PASSIVE LEARNINGTaking information from •Lecture,•Reading assignment,•Visuals.

PRO’S AND CON’S

o Presentable a great deal of information in short period of time.o Lecture notes and visual media’s can be selected in advance and prepared.o Controlled environment.o May be continuous and boring.o Don’t consistently use high level communicative skill.

ACTIVE LEARNING

•Multi-directional learning•Student – teacher,•Teacher – student,•Student – student.

INSTEAD OF ABSORBING/ADSORBING IN LITERAL FORMAT.

MERIT’S

•May increase the critical thinking skill.

•Enable student to show initiative.

•Involve students by stimulating to talk more.

•Incorporate students input and ideas.

•Better meet the students need of learning.

DE-MERIT’S

•Teacher must be expert in respective area.

•May be difficult to organize.

•Requires more energy and time.

•Less favourable evaluations.

•May generate stress to adopt.

CONTRADICTIONS Active learning Passive learning
