Parasitic Helminths: New Perspectives in Biology and Infection 1-6 September 2019 Hydra, Greece The study of helminth parasites con4nues to excite great interest across the suite of modern scien4fic themes. With a wealth of genome informa4on and high-throughput technologies, new drug and vaccine development, and intricate host-parasite molecular interac4ons, we are witnessing a new era of research on these organisms and the diseases they cause. Parasi&c Helminths: New Perspec&ves in Biology and Infec&on will be the 13 th in a highly successful series now held every year on the beau4ful island of Hydra, Greece. All major areas of helminth research are covered, including new genomics of animal- and plant- parasi4c nematodes, interfaces with free-living helminths such as C. elegans and planarians, developmental biology, gene4cs, neurobiology, pharmacology, immunology and vaccine research, all aimed at crea4ng new strategies for control of these very prevalent parasi4c organisms and the diseases they cause. Organising committee: Richard E Davis, University of Colorado Kleoniki Gounaris, Imperial College Rick Maizels, University of Glasgow Murray Selkirk, Imperial College Keynote Speaker Alejandro Sánchez Alvarado, USA Invited Speakers include : Amy Buck, Edinburgh, UK Louisa Cochella, Vienna, Austria Alison Elliott, Entebbe, Uganda Carolina Escobar, Toledo, Spain Elodie Ghedin, New York, USA Nicola Harris, Melbourne, Australia Karl Hoffmann, Aberystwyth UK P’ng Loke, New York USA Peter Sarkies, London, UK William Sullivan, Santa Cruz, USA Conference Venue: Hotel Bratsera, Hydra, Greece bratserahotel.com A key feature of the Hydra venue is the Bratsera Hotel which will host the scien4fic sessions, and its quiet, traffic-free town with ample facili4es for informal interac4ons between delegates. A wide range of accommoda4on is available within 5-10 minutes walk of the conference venue, including pensions for those on a 4ght budget. AKendance is limited to 100 people, consistent with a discussion- orientated mee4ng in which every delegate is an ac4ve par4cipant – early registra4on is encouraged!
