The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (T.S.S.A.) will be introducing new regulations governing boilers and pressure vessels in Ontario, effective July 1, 2018. The new regulations include a change to the process by which boiler and pressure vessel owners will secure Certificates of Inspection.

If Records of Inspection are issued by BI&I, why do I also need a Certificate of Inspection from T.S.S.A?

- Operation of boilers and pressure vessels outside the requirements of the law, or without an up-to-date Certificate of Inspection, is illegal.

How will I know if my boilers and pressure vessels are compliant to the regulations?

- To help identify any additional equipment requiring inspection, we ask that you complete the Jurisdictional Inspection Requirement Form included with the attached policy documents.

- The Jurisdictional Inspection Requirement Form should be returned directly to BI&I in order to expedite an inspection.

- If you are uncertain if you own a jurisdictional object, you may still request an inspection, which will be carried out by BI&I at no additional charge.

Jurisdictional Inspection Requirement Form for Boilers and Pressure Vessels The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (T.S.S.A.) will be introducing new regulations for boilers and pressure vessels, July 1, 2018.

• Ontario law requires routine jurisdictional inspections of boilers and pressure vessels to ensure they’re in safe working order.

• If your policy includes equipment breakdown coverage for boilers and pressure vessels, we will continue to complete the required inspections and file a Record of Inspection with T.S.S.A. on your behalf for no additional charge.

• Effective July 1, 2018, you will be required to obtain the Certificate of Inspection from T.S.S.A for a fee. For more information, visit www.tssa.org.
