Welcome to the Matt Griffin YMCA!
Historical Background• Seattle pioneers Dexter Horton, Rolland Denny and
Catherine Maynard began meeting regularly to discuss strengthening their rapidly growing community, especially for the young. • On August 7, 1876, they formally established the YMCA
of Greater Seattle.• Matt Griffin YMCA was established October 2009,
formerly known as Highline YMCA.
What our goals mean:For Youth Development• Kids = child care, summer camps,
educational programs, and opportunity to enhance basic social skills and English language.
• Teens = sports, academic enrichment, leadership training and volunteering.
• Young adults = post-secondary education goals and exploring career options through internships and training.

For Healthy Living• Offer a variety of group exercise classes, state-of-the-art equipment,
nutrition consultations and guidance from trained lifestyle coaches to improve health and well-being.
• Build healthy lifestyles through Family Fun programs and other recreational activities and events.
• Members at risk of chronic diseases and conditions like diabetes and obesity have guidance & support to establish healthy behavior through
evidence-based and Active-Older-Adults (AOA) programs.

For Social Responsibility• Offer financial assistance.• Hundred of volunteer opportunities with the Y: coaching, fundraising,
teaching and more.• Meal programs reduce food insecurity throughout the year, free meals
and snacks in the Y programs ensure kids don’t go hungry.• Free community library where you can donate, borrow or keep books,
DVD’s, etc.• Togetherhood.
Summer Food Service Program
Health & Well-Being ProgramsFree to Members:
Blood Pressure Program: Participants will work with trained Heathy Heart Ambassadors for the duration of the four-month program. Creating Lasting Change: Lose to Win Learn sustainable ways to eat healthier, move more and lose weight.
Group Exercise Classes: Choose from over 70 classes that are free and included in your membership.
Personal Wellness Plan: Meet one-on-one with a Personal Trainer for an hour to discuss your specific goals, whether it is weight loss, exercise performance or overall improved wellness.
Youth Fitness Orientation: Members ages 10-13 receive an introduction on the proper use of cardio and weight equipment.
Fee Based Trainings:Diabetes Prevention Program: Help with weekly workouts and nutrition. Meet with a trainer as a group 3 days per week and receive customized workouts for the other days. Plus receive nutrition guidance.
Individual & Partner Training: Get help from a certified Y trainer who will set up, monitor and modify your exercise program to meet your individual needs. Sessions are one hour long, train with a friend or a small group and receive a discount.
Small Group Training: Small Group Training is done in groups of 3-5 people; class types include: TRX & Gravity.

Parents Night OutFeel confident knowing your child is happy, safe and
entertained at the Y while you enjoy a few hours of “me” time. Kids will enjoy climbing the rock wall, swimming,
bouncing in a bounce house, games, gym time, crafts and more!

AquaticsLearn to swim at the Y! • Swimmers ages 6 months and up can choose from weekday evenings (twice per week) or Saturday
mornings (once per week).• There is a maximum of 5 students per instructor for all preschool and youth group lessons except the Fish
and Flying Fish levels (limit of 6 swimmers)• Maximum for parent - child and adult lessons is 10 students.• Parents are not permitted in the water during swim lessons (except parent/child classes)
Private Swim LessonsPrivate Lessons are available Monday through Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.
Private Lesson & Semi-Private: 4 weeks or 6 week sessions.
