This program also will provide informa- tion on what is happening with LTCI carriers today and why carriers raise rates. You’ll get ideas and suggestions on how to best handle this situation with your ex- isting clients and also discussing the concerns for new clients. You also will have a better understanding of the underwriting process with these products. This session also will provide an update on the rules and regulations of Medicare and Medicaid and how these programs work I wasn’t a history major, nor do I claim to be a his- tory buff. I don’t know much about Winston Churchill (other than that he was the British Prime Minister dur- ing World War II). But the guy had some great quotes. One quote was, “A pessimist sees the dif- ficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” With the seemingly never-ending difficulties fac- ing our world — from deficits to healthcare costs to natural disasters — I wanted to re- mind everyone that you might be providing the only optimism your client hears today. Don’t ever give that up. Optimism is the only realism, and our clients can’t live suc- cessful financial lives without it. Another well-known saying of Churchill’s is, “You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.” How simple, yet incredibly poignant. And how meaning- ful to our line of work. I’m sure many of your favorite clients would agree with Mr. Churchill. And I’m certain most of you have given and received a lot during your careers. Here’s another opportunity for you to give in a very simple, yet meaningful way. On Saturday, Oct. 15 — a Husker bye week — FPA of Nebraska will be hosting our An- nual Financial Planning Day at the Fort Omaha Campus of Metropolitan Commu- nity College. As chapter president, I have targeted this event as our single most im- portant initiative for 2011. It’s an opportunity to help people who desperately need it. It is also an opportunity for our chapter to build community awareness like we have never had before — awareness that will strengthen the relationships we have with our clients and the belief they have in us. Please make an effort to contact us and let us know what you are willing to do to help. Thanks!
