NEW MANZANILLA GOVERNMENT PRIMARY SCHOOL AND MAHARAJ HILL GOVERNMENT ECCE CENTRE “Quality education and best practices for all students under the People's Partnership Government, carrying Trinidad and Tobago to first world status” Dr. The Honourable Tim Gopeesingh, Minister of Education MANZANILLA GOVERNMENT PRIMARY SCHOOL Crumbling concrete, falling ceiling, visits by snakes; these were some of the conditions the hundred plus students of Manzanilla Government Primary School endured for many years. In 2013 a commitment was made by the Ministry of Education to rebuild this School. To facilitate this recon- struction, the School was relocated to the nearby Community Centre where the School was housed for one (1) year. While grateful for the use of the Centre, it was not fully adequate for a School. Thanks to the dedi- cated staff, they worked under the conditions and made the quarters work. Exactly one (1) year later the beautiful new School, majestically perched on a hill on the Eastern Main Road, was reopened on Tuesday 27th January 2015. Students and the community as a whole are now enjoying this modern facility that incorporates a Library, a Computer Room, a Specialist Class- room, a Science and Technology Room, an Art and Craft Room, an Audito- rium, a Staff Room, a Cafeteria, among other spaces. MAHARAJ HILL GOVERNMENT ECCE CENTRE It is said that 'A child's smile is like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day'. On Tuesday 27th January 2015 three (3) to five (5) year olds of the Sangre Grande community were smiling as their $3.3 million Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Centre was formally opened. The Centre is designed to accommodate fifty (50) pre-schoolers and consists of an Art area, Computer Centre, Multi-Purpose Specialist Area, Literacy Centre and Learning Centre. Centres such as this are pivotal in the Government's thrust in realising Universal Early Childhood Care. The People's Partnership Government continues to deliver spaces in which educators can mould children into citizens well equipped to meet the challenges of their future! Manzanilla Government Primary School and Maharaj Hill ECCE Centre are two (2) of 85 new Schools (25 Primary Schools, 53 ECCE Centres, 7 Secondary Schools) constructed under the People's Partnership Govern- ment, another step forward in providing the children of our country with quality learning facilities by the Ministry of Education through the Educa- tion Facilities Company Limited.
