School Calendar and Next Steps
The Governor has announced that schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year. We will continue to educate our students through our Distance Learning Programming. We have incredible people working throughout NLPS and everyone will continue to rise to excellence, every day, on behalf of our students.
Continued outreach through personal phone calls, emails, online communications, written feedback, etc. will occur daily. Support staff will assist teachers to be sure every child’s individual needs are supported. Administrators will continue to work alongside teachers to collate, review and respond to each student’s engagement and task completion data. This data will continue to be reviewed, multiple times per week, and interventions will be in place for those students and families who need additional support for academics and/or in social-emotional areas. Parent outreach efforts will continue weekly. We are striving for 100% of students to meet their learning goals, through the multi-tiered support structures we have put into place. Students and parents will get regular feedback on how students are doing.
District and school-based updates will also continue to be shared with all constituents each week.

Re-opening of School Planning Teams Across The State of CT
The Commissioner of Education has enlisted the help of the six Regional Education Service Centers (RESC), to form teams of Connecticut education stakeholders, for the purpose of gathering, analyzing, and sharing the issues, concerns, and ideas related to the process of a (future) re-opening schools.
It is an honor for me to serve on behalf of NLPS on one of these teams. We will be meeting weekly over the next six weeks.

CT Department of Education SurveyPlease take this survey to share your
thoughts…The Commissioner of Education and State Department have recently launched an online tool to gather input from all families, staff, educational leaders, community members, students, etc. who wish to contribute their input regarding (future) plans for the re-opening of schools.
This tool, entitled "ThoughtExchange," is entirely confidential and anonymous to use. Your participation and feedback are essential to the process and necessary for our State leaders to consider as decisions are made about re-opening our schools. I encourage everyone to use the link below to share your thoughts and help evaluate the critical issues. This link is accessible in English and Spanish.
