Summer is a time for students to have FUN in a safe, exciting environment. Join the NLA Summer BLAST program for the time of your life! The day may consist of age-appropriate activities, arts, crafts, gym time, games, outdoor recess, field trips, and more. Snacks will be provided, but no lunch is provided. Students should bring a bag lunch each day.

NLA Soccer CampsThe New Life Eagles soccer camps are for both boys and girls. Each camp runs for 5 days, 3 hours each day. The objectives of the camps are to develop soccer skills, while having fun. The New Life Academy Boys and Girls Soccer coach and players will staff the camp. The skills may include juggling, dribbling, shooting, controlling, and passing. The activities for each day will include individual drills, lead-up games and small-sided games. Each participant will receive a camp shirt. Participants should bring a ball, tennis shoes or soccer cleats, shin guards, water bottle and a snack. We’ll play a variety of team games, spend time working on skill development, & enjoy lots of dodge ball and kickball! Besides having a really fun time with friends, each student will receive daily rewards and a framed photo of them in action! There will be other “grand” prizes for game and tournament winners!

NLA Girls Basketball Camp: 2nd - 6th GradeThis basketball camp for girls in elementary school will focus on the fundamentals of basketball in a fun atmosphere to encourage kids to enjoy the game of basketball. This camp will be run by girls varsity basketball coach Greg Wilson along with the assistance of current players from the girls varsity team here at New Life. Kids will learn proper skills and have fun playing a variety of drills, activities and games. Kids will need to wear comfortable clothing for basketball, tennis shoes and bring a water bottle each day to camp.

Kids will learn proper skills and have fun playing a variety of activities and games. There will be daily rewards given to each kid as well. Kids will need to wear comfortable clothing for activity and tennis shoes each day to camp. Kids can bring a water bottle to use during the camp as well.

NLA Boys Basketball Camp: 4th - 6th GradeThis camp will focus on skill development along with competitive game skills to help players become better basketball players. Skill development will include ball handling skills, finishing, shooting, offensive team skills like cutting, screening and passing, and 1 on 1 skills to help a player score and create offense. Each day the camp will have fun games for the athletes to compete in and utilize their basketball skills.

The camp is coached by Doug Linton who has been a high school basketball coach for 27 years and worked with the Woodbury Athletic Association traveling basketball tryouts and conducted numerous camps around the metro area. Coach Linton is currently the head boys varsity coach at New Life Academy. There will also be current members of the New Life Academy Boys Varsity Basketball Team there to help coach the athletes.

NLA Middle School Football CampMiddle School Head Coach Stephen Nelson and other Eagles players/staff will teach football skills for both offense, defense, and special teams. They will be incorporating techniques, plays, and fundamentals taught at the varsity level but applicable for younger ages. Combined with scrimmaging opportunities this non-contact camp will be a fun and a great learning experience.

Skyhawks Mini-Hawk (Soccer, T-ball, Basketball)This t-ball, basketball, and soccer program gives children a fun and positive first step into athletics. Through games and activities, campers explore balance, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace. For all half day camps, participants receive a t-shirt, ball, and a merit award. Participants should bring appropriate clothing, two snacks, a water bottle, running shoes and sunscreen.

Skyhawks VolleyballAll aspects of volleyball are taught through drills and exercises that focus on passing, setting, hitting, and serving. Our staff will assist campers in developing fundamental skills through game-speed drills and daily scrimmages aimed at developing the whole player. Skyhawks Flag Football Flag Football is the perfect introduction to “America’s Game.” Campers learn skills on both sides of the football including the core components of passing, catching, and defense – all presented in a fun and positive environment. The week ends with the Skyhawks Super Bowl, giving participants a chance to showcase their skills on the gridiron! Participants should bring appropriate clothing, two snacks, water bottle, and sunscreen. Participants receive a t-shirt, football, and merit award.

Skyhawks GolfSkyhawks Golf focuses on building the confidence of young athletes through proper technique and refining the essential skills of the game. This camp will focus on the fundamentals of form, chipping, putting, driving and body positioning. To assist in this training, Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf ) system to its curriculum. SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level player; SNAG simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy and effective transition onto the golf course. No need to bring your own clubs--all equipment is provided. We keep the instructor-to-camper ratio for this program very low, resulting in limited availability. Participants should bring appropriate clothing, two snacks, a water bottle, running shoes, and sunscreen. All participants receive a t-shirt and a merit award.

Musical Theater CampMusical Theater Camp will begin every morning with a warm up, followed by a brief lesson on Acting 101. This camp is geared toward developing and honing performance skills, as well as enriching self-esteem and building confidence through individual and group achievement. T-shirts will be provided. Robotics: Star Wars Droid BuilderBring Star Wars inspired inventions to life — with the Star Wars Lego Mindstorms Robotics Developer kit. We will start with a simple droid mechanism and then move on to more ambitious droids that move and walk. This modular building system lets student’s build using subassemblies, making it easy to create and customize the robotic droids. All these great robotic inventions are powered by the Micro Scout, the smallest LEGO microcomputer, equipped with light sensor, and 6 robotic programs to control our droid creations. Possible Models include Droid Vehicle, Trainer Droids, our version of R2D2 and more! Red Cross Babysitter CourseThe purpose of this American Red Cross Babysitter course is to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave, and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. There are no prerequisites required to take the course. Included in the price of the course is a training kit. The contents of the kit include:• Babysitter’s Training Handbook- This full color handbook is filled with great information and resources to use

GeometryThis class is a fast-paced, accelerated Geometry course covering a full year of material in a four-week period. This course is designed to emphasize the study of the properties and applications of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions. Geometric relationships will be explored using traditional geometric tools to perform constructions and measure figures. Inductive and deductive thinking skills are used in solving real-world applications and proving properties of parallel and perpendicular lines, triangles, and polygons. Algebra skills are applied extensively with area, surfacearea, and volume formulas as well as the Pythagorean Theorem and basic Trigonometry.

Physical EducationEach student will have the opportunity to enhance their skills and abilities through a variety of team and individual sports (i.e. golf, tennis, softball, flag football, soccer, basketball). The units will include development of skills, teaching of rules, regulations, and strategies governing the specific sport. We will also emphasize an appreciation of the biblical principles of honesty and fair play, abiding by the rules, and the importance of developing teamwork. Time will also be taken to provide general awareness of personal health and hygiene as it applies to everyday living.

Physical ScienceThis course is designed to be a 4-week summer intensive in Physical Science that is a required class before students take Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The course will build the foundation for Physics and Chemistry giving students a conceptual understanding of how the universe and the things in the universe work. The course is experiment focused (the doing of science), project focused (there will be a weekly project), fast-paced (it will be an academically challenging course), and mathematical (students should have maintained a B+ or higher in Algebra I). The major units will cover Force and Motion, Energy, Matter and the Atom, and Chemical Reactions.
