Routine processes place continual demands on the operating system. A high degree of consistent, user-friendly, intuitive technical functions and operational flexibility are expected features. The basic equipment of the Alpha and Beta series, combined with their specially developed operator interface „LDplus“ (Lyo-Display), live up to the challenges of safe and suc-cessful freeze drying day after day.

Graduated condenser power and freeze drying capacities

Depending on the area of application, the laboratory freezedryers of the LDplus series are available in different sizes and with a wide range of accessories.Laboratory freeze dryers are available with two different ice condenser temperatures:

The different basic units have various maximum ice capacities:

The information concerning the ice condenser temperatureand maximum ice capacity is part of the name of the laboratory freeze dryers. A Beta 2-8 LDplus freeze dryer, for example, is a double-stage system with an ice condenser temperatureof-85°Candamaximumicecapacityof8kg.

Cooling bath

Ifliquidsaretobedriedinflasksinalayermorethan1cmthick,thenwerecommendusingashell-orspin-freezingar-rangement (see Figure) in a cooling bath. The rotation spreads theliquidontheinnerwallsoftheflaskwhereitfreezes.Thefreezing process produces a thinner layer and increases the potential area for sublimation, which considerably reduces the overall drying time.
