This was clearly demonstrated by our guest speakers at our first meeting’s Technical Presentation. We have had many excellent speakers through the years; but my impression of Bob Petrone, Tom Fenelon, and their associate was not only of substance, but also of dedication and passion for the field of welding. Passion drives our motivation to excel, and to do things beneficial to ourselves and to others. Our guest speakers provided a demonstration of this for us. As we move forward as a Section, let each of us reevaluate how the American Welding Society has benefited us in our careers and lives. By embarking on such thoughts, we can determine what our individ- ual role could be, as well as the benefits it would bring to ourselves and others. Benefits help to define us as human beings; and our contributions inspire and enable others to become more positive, productive individuals in society. As you contemplate, consider your talents, strengths, decision making, trouble shooting and team playing skills. Together, as a well-defined team, we all can play an important role in building a stronger NJ Section, and making a difference to the future of this industry. “Our passions are the true phoenixes; when the old one is burnt out, a new one rises from its ashes.” Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe Herb Browne, AWS NJ Section Chairman Morris County Institute of Technology In this issue: p. 2 Facilities Tour 5:30pm October 16, 2012 Sheet Metal Workers Local 22 Cranford, NJ Please make a reservation p. 3 Welcome New Members p. 3 Liquid Penetrant Seminar p. 3 Cyberweld honored p. 4 Coming Events p. 4 Fab Tech Expo p. 4 At the September Meeting p. 5 Scholarships Available

Chair’s Message

Dear Members, Sponsors and Guests:

Prior to our Executive Meeting last month, we spoke about having pas-sion for our jobs, and the need to be more passionate with our Section—to be more involve in activities.

By embarking on such thoughts, we can determine what our individ-ual role could be, as well as the benefits it would bring to ourselves and others.

“Our passions are the true phoenixes; when the old one is burnt out, a new one rises from its ashes.” Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
