Students meet University of Hawai‘i students five times during the course to practice conversation and interact with local students. Off-campus Activities ..... The community becomes the classroom during off-campus educational activities that provide interaction with the locals. American Culture.............. Language and culture go hand in hand as students learn about American traditions, customs, and values both in and out of the classroom. Hawaiian Culture.............. Students learn about the beautiful and unique traditions of Hawai‘i in English classes, in a hula lesson, and in the local community. Optional Excursions......... Students may sign up for extra activities held during non-program hours. EligibilityParticipants must be 16 years or older. If under 18 years, student must have an adult sponsor in Hawai’i.
VISA InformationStudent visa is not required because this program is considered part-time. Participants may enter the U.S. on a tourist visa (or visa waiver).
AccommodationsPlease see our Housing Information Flyer for suggestions on where to stay in Hawai’i.
Health RequirementsNo health requirements for this short program. Students must have medical insurance during their stay in the NICE program.
COURSE FEE$1045 (includes $75 non-refundable application fee) Cancellation/Refund Policy: $970 is refundable for cancellations made by 2 business days prior to program start. No refund thereafter.
