Many multi-year schedules have a great deal of detail within a handful of years. In this case, it might be a good idea to expand the detailed portion of the schedule and shrink the future (or past) parts of the schedule which aren’t of immediate interest. In prior versions of Milestones Professional, this type of a “logarithmic” heading was accomplished via custom headings but a number of issues arose.

2015 offers a new “Logarithmic View” which makes highlighting certain years a breeze!

Task row curtains

Curtains offer a way to shade any date range on a schedule. Curtains might be used to

shade a critical project time span, a holiday season, every other month, or any other

time period. Each curtain appears for a set date range or repeat for a designated period,

at specified intervals. The schedule can have as many curtains as needed. Now, cur-

tains can be shown on specified tasks only.

It’s now possible to have 11 vertical levels on each task row. This allows for excellent control of symbol position, espe-cially in tight spaces.

Now, select just a few task rows to paste into another application. Choose whether or not to include the date heading.

Now, individual links on the schedule can be customized with unique colors and line pat-terns. This greatly extends the range of possible vertical connectors on a schedule.

If just a few task rows from a schedule are needed for presentation or for inclusion in a document, just select the tasks and copy them to the clipboard. Optionally, include the date headings.

Calendars are easier to read as individual days can be colored.


Now, in addition to many other date format options in Mile-stones, it’s possible to change the date format for individual symbols on a schedule.

In addition to setting the outline color in the toolbox, now it

can be changed for individual symbols on the schedule.

Override the symbol mark and mark color for symbols that are al-

ready on the schedule. Add a mark or remove the mark if it is al-

ready there.

Now, set a color overrided in the toolbox in addition to individual symbol overrides.

In addition to Bar and Line graphs, it’s now possible to show a “points” DataGraph. Pick any toolbox symbol to represent the points in the DataGraph.

When using a points DataGraph, pairs of ValueSets can be linked in order to represent a “Hi/Low” set of values. In this example, which overlays a points DataGraph with a line DataGraph, the High value points represent Maximum Hours. The low value points represent Minimum Hours.

In the example below, the daily high and low values for the Dow Jones Industrial Average are shown:

Now, update one Milestones schedule from multiple Microsoft Project schedules using file nickname references.

Build a “refresh file list” for a presentation schedule. Add all of your Microsoft Pro-

ject schedules to the list and assign a nickname to each schedule. Then, on the master

schedule, reference the Project Unique ID along with the nickname.

Default symbol tag

Set a default symbol tag in the Toolbox. Use this feature in conjunction with Date from Symbol

Automation Tag SmartColumn. Turn on Overlay Tags option to see the tagged symbols’ tag.

Open Schedule Note

Now, a note can be displayed whenever a schedule is opened. This can be useful if a schedule is shared with others and they

need to know something about the schedule when they open it. For example: “This schedule has links to important project docu-

ments.” or “Please do not make any changes to this schedule.”
