The Board of Natural Resources
The Board of Natural Resources consists of 19 citizens appointed
by the Governor and confirmed by the Georgia Senate. The Boardis responsible for setting rules and regulations ranging from airand water quality to hunting seasons and provides input intoissues such as the agency’s budget recommendations andlegislative initiatives. The Board meets 10 times a year.

Coastal Resources Division
The Coastal Resources Division (CRD) has primaryresponsibility for managing Georgia's marshes, beaches, andmarine fishery resources. Based in Brunswick, CRD administerspermitting programs under the Coastal Marshlands ProtectionAct and Shore Protection Act; issues revocable licenses for useof state-owned water bottoms; monitors coastal water quality;and manages shellfish harvest areas. CRD conducts research;management and development activities associated withrecreational and commercial fishery resources; representsGeorgia on regional marine fishery boards and commissions;and builds boat ramps, artificial reefs, and fishing piers. CRDhas primary responsibility for the Protection ofTidewater/Right of Passage Acts.

Environmental Protection Division
The Environmental Protection Division (EPD) protects Georgia'sair, land, and water through the authority of state statutes andmajor parts of five federal environmental statutes. These lawsregulate public and private facilities having to do with waterquality, air quality, hazardous waste, water supply, solid wastemanagement, surface mining and other areas. It issues andenforces all state permits in these areas. It has received theauthority from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) toissue and enforce all permits required by federal laws.

Parks and Historic Resources Division
The Parks & Historic Resources Division (PHRD) manages more than60 properties that preserve the state's environment and history.From the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Colonial Coast, these sitesoffer an exceptional variety of activities, such as hiking and biking,fishing and boating, picnicking, ranger programs, historic enactmentsand golf for more than 11 million people each year. Currently, 63state parks and state historic sites are open to the public, offering374 cottages, 414 lodge rooms, 2,486+ campsites and 7 golf courses.

Your Pay
You are paid Semi-monthly (15th and the end of the month). Youare paid on a two week lag. Your first paycheck will be received atthe end of the pay period following the pay period that you startwork.
Pay Deductions:• Georgia Defined Contribution Plan (GDCP) - each pay period@ 7.5% of gross earnings•GBA Parking – end of month for next month’s service
Direct Deposit is mandatory for all employees.

Part-time employees do not earn leave or holidays.

Georgia Defined Contributions Retirement Plan
The Georgia Defined Contribution Plan (GDCP) is a retirement plan for
temporary, seasonal, and part-time employees.
Contributions
Members contribute 7½ % of gross salary to the plan through payrolldeductions. This amount is deposited into each member’s account.

DNR Policies and Procedures
DNR provides employees with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). All employeesmust follow these procedures.

Your new hire paperwork contains an acknowledgement statement that you mustsign. Your signature indicates that you have read and understand the departmentpolicies and procedures. During your first few days in your new job you must accessthe department intranet and read the SOPs.

Work Hours and Time Keeping
The official work hours (core office hours) for the department are from 8:00a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The standard work period for the department starts at 12:01 a.m. Saturdayand ends at midnight, Friday.
Your work hours and work period may vary depending on your job.
All DNR employees are required to complete a timesheet for each workperiod. See HR SOP #501 - Work Period, Work Time, Overtime andCompensatory Time, and Overtime, and HR SOP #502 – Time and LeaveKeeping, for more information. DNR employees have on-line access to information regarding their paycheck, benefits, personal information, retirement info., etc., through a selfservice function of TeamWorks (PeopleSoft). New employees must log on toEmployee Self Service to access this information athttps://hcm.teamworks.Georgia.gov.
To sign on to ESS:Enter User ID (this is your 8 digit Employee ID #)
Enter Password (Enter your SS# - no dashes)
Click on the Sign On button.
NOTE: After clicking the Sign On button,you will be prompted to change yourpassword.
This password must be 8 characters longand must contain a number and a symbol.
To use the Reset/Forget your password?function, you will need to set up 3 securityquestions and answers.

The Performance Management sections allows employees to view their current and any pastperformance documentation.
Employees will also be able to view their leave balances, employee expense reimbursement information,job descriptions for all jobs within State Government and give approval delegation to others within theirunit.
Click on Main Menu and the drop down menu will appear.
Click on Self Service and the menu will appear to the right.
The Personal Information selection allows employees toview/change your personal information.
The Payroll and Compensation section allows employees toview paycheck information, direct deposit information, and taxinformation. You must access the Direct Deposit section underPayroll & Compensation to have your paychecks DirectDeposited. Click on Help at the top of the screen for detailedinstructions.
The Benefits section allows employees to view various benefitsthey have for working for the State of Georgia.

New Employee Training:All new employees are required to complete training on various subjects as part ofthe orientation process. This training will consist of:

Security Awareness Training:All new employees are required to complete Security Awareness Training as part oforientation. The video training link will be e-mailed to the new employee’s DNR e-mail address 10 days after the 1st day of employment.

Sexual Harassment Training:New employees must view the Sexual Harassment Prevention for Employees video,visit https://dnrintranet.org/hr/training to begin this training.
NOTE: You will need an Employee ID to take this training.
New supervisors/managers must view the Sexual Harassment Prevention forSupervisors/Managers (Modules 1-5) videos as well as the video for Employees aslisted above. Supervisor/Manager Training information will be e-mailed to the newemployee from the Department of Administrative Services.

Human Trafficking Awareness Training:All new employees are required to complete Human Trafficking Awareness Trainingas part of orientation. Please visit the Human Trafficking Awareness Training sectionon the DNR Intranet at http://dnrintranet.org/hr/training to begin this training.
You will click on the Human Trafficking Awareness Training Video link which will takeyou to a page to enter your Employee information. As a new employee to DNR, youmay not yet have your Employee ID # which is a required field to log in and view thetraining. If you do not have an Employee ID #, please see your Division HRRepresentative to discuss alternate viewing methods.
If you have an Employee ID #, enter the number and click on Populate Fields. Youmay get the following message after you enter the Employee ID: “Your informationdoesn't exist in the system yet, please enter your information and click Next >> towatch the video.” You then manually populate the First Name, Last Name andViewer Division fields and click Next >>. You will be redirected to another screen,click Watch Video to begin the training.

Employee Self Service (ESS) / Manager Self Service (MSS) Training:New employees should take the on-line training offered for Employee Self Serviceand new supervisors / managers should take the on-line training offered for theManager Self Service. Both of these on-line training courses are offered through theState Accounting Office.
Prior to taking either of these on-line training courses, employees must view aPowerPoint presentation about the ESS and MSS Training Course. Information in thispresentation informs employees on how to use the features offered in the ESS andMSS Training Course.

Operation of Vehicles on Department Business
New employees who will be operating vehicles (department owned, rental,or privately owned), on state business must complete a DriverAcknowledgement form. The DNR Safety Manual is designed to provide guidance for DivisionDirectors and their employees regarding the maintenance of safe conditionson Departmentally-managed lands and facilities and to maintain a safe andhealthful working environment for employees as well as site visitors.

Bomb Threat Situation: What to DoBomb threats are rare, but should always be taken seriously. How quickly and safelyone reacts to a bomb threat could save lives. Atlanta Capitol Hill Employees Only
Building Access:Employees located in the Atlanta area may need a building access card. Buildingaccess cards are issued by the Georgia Building Authority (GBA). DNR pays the initialcost of the card. However, if a replacement card is needed, a fee of $20 will becharged to the employee by GBA.
