Friday 8th May 2020 Here is the Friday letter, on a Thursday. I do hope you have the opportunity tomorrow, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE day. I have noticed that people are beginning to decorate their properties and I know staff have linked elements of the children’s home learning this week, to the celebration and remembrance of this important day in modern history. In school we have made and hung bunting and completed various activities including a VE day tea party. I do hope despite ‘lock down’ restrictions you manage to have an enjoyable day. As we wouldn’t have been in school tomorrow, staff have not set work on Google Classroom. Things will return to normal on Monday 11th, which actually would have been the start of KS2 SATs week. How different our lives are at present. Thank you once again for the commitment and determination that is shown by children and parents in relation to home learning. Please do continue to contact us if you need any help or have any questions or queries. ([email protected] or via Google Classroom) Home Learning books - Books are available between the front and inner school doors; 9am-3pm Monday to Friday. There is also a box of extra exercise books that the children can take to use for what they wish and a lot of reading books; fiction and non-fiction, all abilities, absolutely free. Please come and have a look and take what you want. New Library - We now have definite plans for an amazing new library. To be able to move forward with this venture we do unfortunately have to totally fund it by fundraising. Therefore once we return to school we will be fundraising with a passion.. If anyone knows of any way to support this venture , either through grants, local business donations or indeed fundraising ideas, please do not hesitate to let us know ([email protected]). A new and exciting library learning space would really help enhance the chldrens’ learning and help promote a real love of reading. PTA - The PTA will be supporting our fundraising venture. Please, do support them and join their PTA Facebook page where there will be details of any events that are happening or activities to engage in . Here is the Friday letter, on a Thursday. I do hope you have the opportunity

tomorrow, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE day. I have noticed

that people are beginning to decorate their properties and I know

staff have linked elements of the children’s home learning this week,

to the celebration and remembrance of this important day in modern

history. In school we have made and hung bunting and completed

various activities including a VE day tea party. I do hope despite ‘lock

down’ restrictions you manage to have an enjoyable day.

As we wouldn’t have been in school tomorrow, staff have not set work on Google Classroom. Things

will return to normal on Monday 11th, which actually would have been the start of KS2 SATs week.

How different our lives are at present. Thank you once again for the commitment and determination

that is shown by children and parents in relation to home learning. Please do continue to contact us if

you need any help or have any questions or queries. ([email protected] or via Google Classroom)

  • School Choir -I do hope lots of you are practising the song and want to be part of the final performance. Once you feel comfortable with your performance, video it and send it through to

school, by 12 noon on Monday 18th May at the latest. We will then use all the recordings to make a video of our first song performed by the new Kellington School Choir. ([email protected])

The song we would like you to learn, hopefully without looking at the words( but don’t worry if you still

need them) is ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by the Beatles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElW8dK1POA4 This is the karaoke version which if possible we would like you to use when you make your video. You may however prefer to learn it with words on

your backing track. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mc1ta1UMGeo If you only want to send a video of you singing part of the song, that is absolutely fine. We are so

excited to be launching our Kellington School Choir and for this one performance only, any family members can join in too. We will be sharing information about another singing opportunity next week. So Keep Singing….it helps to keep a smile on your face.

Food Vouchers- We understand that these are tough times financially for many people. Please, if anyone is struggling and a Selby foodbank voucher would help you, do get in touch. All correspondence

will be treated in the strictest confidence and vouchers can be delivered safely and discreetly.

    ([email protected] )

I do hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend and enjoy any of the VE day celebrations you are

part of. It does look as though the sun will shine, which makes everything even better. STAY SAFE . Kind

    regards Helen Humphrys (Headteacher)

What we have been up to this week. Well done everyone #Kellingtonschoolchildrenarefab ( Don’t forget to send your pictures in)
