School Test Coordinator’s Responsibilities Specific to EOC Online Testing (page 11)

Ensure appropriate test security procedures are followed. For example, secure online test items must not be visible on a computer monitor unless a test administrator, proctor, and student are present during the actual administration of the test.

Create or manage user accounts in NC Education for all test administrators.

Ensure information required in NC Education is complete and accurate before the designated deadline.

Ensure school test administrators can access the secure site. School test administrators must be notified that user accounts are confidential and designated as secure and are not to be shared with other personnel or students.

teachers

Estimated Administration Time (pages 31, 32)

• 150 minutes• 2 two-minute breaks every 60 minutes• Allow ample opportunity to complete the test. • As long as students are engaged and working

and the maximum time allowed has not been reached, they must be given time to complete the test.

Monitoring Students During Testing • Walk frequently and quietly throughout the room.

– Position self to have an unobstructed view of and easy

access to students.  • Do not read test questions from open student test books. • Do not indicate answers to students. Some examples include but are not limited to:

– telling students to “look at the question again” or offering similar advice;– making a facial expression, hand gesture, or utterance (e.g., coughing, clearing

throat) to indicate approval or disapproval of the student’s response; and– standing beside the desk, reading a question, looking at the student’s response, and

then pointing to the correct answer or pointing to the question as if to indicate “read the question again because you have bubbled the wrong answer.”

•  Test administrators and proctors (see proctor statement) cannot help students:– by explaining the directions in their own words;– by explaining the meaning of any word in the directions, test questions, or answer

choices;– by rephrasing test questions; – by translating a word or phrase into another language; or– by providing synonyms for unknown words.

• Register all students in NCEd (bulk upload – see handout)

• Enter responses to Student Interface Questions (SIQ)

• Schedule administration sessions date(s) and start time window(s) in NCEd

• Complete Admin Entry tab coding for select students who (1) are absent from all makeup test sessions, (2) are identified only under Section 504, and/or (3) are identified with a transitory impairment. .

• Complete and return Review of Accommodations Used During Testing form(s) See handout.

• Complete the Accommodations Provided data screen for any student SIQs marked as requiring accommodations. Note: Scores will not be available until the Accommodations Provided is completed

• Students taking the EOC Online Tests of Biology and English I may be grouped for Retest 1 administrations

• The Algebra I EOC test must not be administered with another subject (i.e., biology or English I)

• Test coordinators must ensure that students do not feel uncomfortable with mixed-subject grouping, so that test performance is not affected

Online Test Format (page 3)

• SIQ must be completed for students requiring a different background color, Large Font, or documented accommodations BEFORE test day.

• Regular or large font and different background colors are available to ALL students. – Consider for students who routinely use similar tools (e.g., color acetate overlays, colored

paper, large print text).

• Computer Reads Test Aloud—Student Controlled and/or the Multiple Testing Sessions accommodations must be entered into the SIQ BEFORE test day

• Test administrators must complete the Accommodations Provided data screen AFTER each test administration for students marked as requiring Computer Reads Test Aloud—Student Controlled, Multiple Testing Sessions, or other documented accommodations in the SIQ. – Student scores will not be available until the Accommodations Provided data screen is

completed for each accommodated student.
