MESSAGE FROM NEW ERA COLLEGEMr Clement Didimalang

Dear Graduates

Director of Academic Affairs

Today marks an important milestone in your live careers. You are graduating from your various programs of study. On behalf of theCollege Management and the rest of New Era College Community, I would like to commend and congratulate you and your familiesfor your achievements. Many of you had to live very far from your loved ones to pursue your studies and now you are receiving anaward that is a reward for your years of hard work. Well done! This award should serve as a master key to open a diversity of doorsthat you are yet to �nd in your career paths.

Those of you who are working may have noted that what school taught you and what you have to do may be di�erent. As you gainmore experience at what you do, you will realise that the knowledge and skills you acquired at school and from your work experiencebecome less and less relevant probably because of changes in technology and ways of doing things. This is a sign that no institutioncan give you knowledge and skills needed to ful�l the demands of your whole life career. The demands of life change and render oldknowledge and skills obsolete. In fact, many graduates from technical �elds often �nd out that the tools they have to use in their �eldsare di�erent from those that they used at school despite schools’ e�orts to keep and use “state of the art technologies”.

You will also soon realised that although you and your classmates went through the same programs, your levels of success at whatyou do may be di�erent. The reality is that the knowledge and skills that you gain may be the same but your attitudes towardslearning and life in general are di�erent. It is your individual di�erences that will determine which doors you can open with yourmaster key. This is calling for you as individuals to re�ect upon yourself and ask what it is about you that will make your key workbetter or not at all. Your new challenge is to keep abreast with the changing demands of life by acquiring more relevant Attitudes,Skills, and Knowledge (A.S.K).

To families of the graduating class, I would like to congratulate you for raising these graduands. Your support from the early years tonow and the future will continue to be very relevant to these young people as they step into their various future endeavours. Theseare the people on whom the nation places its future hopes. Your guidance and encouragement for them must continue for life.

Finally let me wish you all graduating class success in all that you do and remind you that if you do not get employed by anyone,A.S.K about self-employment!
