lighthouse in the country and the first in Rhode Island. ● Jamestown Fire Memorial Museum has an 1800’s horse-drawn steam pump on display.

If the museum is closed check in next door at the current firehouse. ● Fort Wetherill State Park is located on Conanicut Island in Jamestown. The fort is

The island is less commercialized than Nantucket and worth visiting for the beaches, quaint town, and beautiful harbor. Cute shops and restaurants like the main road downtown. Moorings are on first come first served basis and can be booked on weekends.

Cuttyhunk, MA  There are no shops in Cuttyhunk, a dry island (no alcohol available for purchase) and limited restaurants ashore. The island is a bit more remote and undeveloped than Block Island but offers beautiful views and is always on the top of everyone’s list. Hike to the top of the island for expansive views of Cape Cod and islands, really

magnificent. Other hikes around the island for the more adventure some or enjoy several small but secluded beaches. To have shellfish delivered directly to your yacht radio Cuttyhunk Shellfish Farms on channel 72 between 5:15 am and 7:30 pm.

Hadley Harbor, MA  Just a short sail from Cuttyhunk lies a private island, owned by the Forbes Family for hundreds of years. The scenery inside the harbor is fantastic and quiet.

Menemsha, MA  Menemsha is on the western tip of Martha’s Vineyard. There are moorings outside but not very well protected so call the harbormaster to see if you can squeeze inside the harbor. Also a dry township but several restaurants and art galleries that are worth visiting.

Lake Tashmoo, MA  A very narrow cut allows you to gain access to one of the most beautiful protected salt water “lakes”. Best to schedule your entry at high tide where eight feet of water is possible. Inside the lake plenty of space for anchoring, a dinghy dock, and short walk to Vineyard Haven.

If you are planning on sailing to either Nantucket or

Provincetown keep in mind it will take you about 12 hours or so to sail there.

The boat must be in a slip, on a mooring or at anchor an hour

before sunset. You are not allowed to to sail or motor after this time until after sunrise.

reach 5+ kts.
