Billy Hanna (c. 1929 – 27 July 1975, Lurgan, County Armagh) —

founder of the UVF Mid-Ulster Brigade and its commander until July 1975; he had also served as a sergeant in the C Company, 11th Battalion UDR before being dismissed for providing intelligence to the

UVF.[27] He was the gang's staff instructor. Colin Wallace maintained Hanna had organised the Dublin bombings in May 1974.[28] Journalist Joe Tiernan alleged that Hanna was a Military Intelligence agent. He

was the person who had approached the Glenanne farm's owner for permission to use the property as an arms dump and bomb-making site. Hanna was shot dead outside his home in Lurgan in July 1975.[29]

McCaughey had acted as a close protection guard for Ulster Unionist politician John Taylor.[25]

When Christianity came to Ireland, the church took a dim view of Druidic festivals and created the vigil of All Soul’s Evening, (or All Hallow’s Eve) on October 31st, the Feast of All Saints on November 1st, and All Souls Day on November 2nd.

All three days were regarded as one of the most important times of the year and were celebrated throughout Ireland with feasting, merrymaking and divination games on Halloween

Activities included bobbing for appleswhich is still popular today, and snap applewhich is trying to take a bite of an apple hanging on a string.

Lighting of bonfiresand the custom of children dressed up in costume going from house to house shouting in unison: “Help the Hallowe’en Party! Any apples or nuts?”

To this day, people in Ireland still carve out turnips and illuminate them with stumps of candle.

The Celts wore costumes, typically consisting of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each other's fortunes.

All Souls Day was celebrated with big bonfires, parades, and dressing up in costumes as saints, angels and devils. The All Saints Day celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas and the night before it, began to be called All-hallowsEve.

of All Saints.

On the feast of All Saints

we commemorate the

countless martyrs and

others who cannot be

honored individually

because there are not

enough days in the year to

do so.
