New Cosmetology Program Beginning this fall, El Camino College Compton Center will offer a Cosmetology program for students interested in the beauty and wellness industry to earn a two-year degree and various certificates. Students may enroll now for the fall 2016 semester. Cosmetology classes will be offered in both daytime and evening sessions. To apply and register, please visit www.compton.edu/apply.
Those who enroll in the new program will receive training in cosmetology to become a hairstylist and provide beauty services such as shampooing, cutting, coloring and styling hair. In two years or less students can earn a certificate, or an associate degree, which prepares them to take the California State Board of Cosmetology Licensing Examination.

ECC Compton Center offers FREE college classes to eligible high school juniors and seniors as part of its Concurrent Enrollment program. Earn college credits now to get a head start on your college career w ith transferable college credits! Classes are offered during the regular school year at your high school and at Compton Center, as well as during the summer. Interested high school students must apply on line at www. compton.edu and submit a Concurrent Enrollment Application.
TRANSFER To the University of Your Dreams
ECC Compton Center has many programs and services available to help students achieve their goals of transferring to a top four-year college or university. The Honors Trans-fer Program (HTP) prepares highly motivated students for transfer. HTP requirements are similar to those required by the University of California, and honors courses focus on improving reading, writing and study skills. Benefits include priority registration, increased chances of receiving scholarships, and completion of HTP designation noted on students' official transcripts.
ECC Compton Center has Guaranteed Transfer Agreements with several colleges and universities, including California State University, Dominguez Hills and several Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
In 2015, 481 students transferred to a four-year college or university. Top CSU destinations for Compton Center students include Dominguez Hills, Long Beach, and Los Angeles. The top University of California destinations are UCLA and UCI.
El Camino College Compton Center's Transfer Center (D-29) is the ultimate resource for making a smooth transition to any four-year college/university. Available services include counseling and advisement, access to Internet resources, transferrelated workshops, university tours, college fairs, and representative visits from UC, CSU, and private/out of state schools.

First Year Experience The Best Way to Begin Your College Studies
The highly successful First Year Experience (FYE) program connects first-time college students with learning communities where students have a support base within the school, can collaborate, make friends, study in groups, and learn skills to ensure success at ECC Compton Center.
"The First Year Experience program was very helpful. The same group of students took classes together throughout the year
and we studied together;' said Jiliah Sanders, ECC Compton Center 2015 graduate who transferred to UCLA to major in African American studies.

CAREER TRAINING That Leads to a Job
El Camino College Compton Center's Career and Technical Education (CTE) program helps students get the training needed to quality for well-paying jobs with room for advancement. The CTE program also assists students with the job search process. Last year, more than 20 students were hired for jobs in occupations such as welding, aerospace fastener manufacturing, machine tooling; and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
CTE offers more than 15 different occupational programs with up-to-date equipment and vocational instructors who are experts in their fields. Depending on the occupation selected, training may take from six months to two years. Associate degrees and certificate (shorter-term) programs are available. Evening and weekend classes are available.

Financial & Academic RESOURCES Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) is available for eligible students who want to get an education but do not have the resources to enroll in college.
EOPS students receive many benefits such as priority registration; referrals to services on and off campus; early academic intervention; student enhancement workshops; educational supplies; academic achievement grants, and more.
"EOPS is important because it provides financial support, as well as the educational planning to help eligible students achieve their goals;' said Donald Sledge, a Long Beach resident who is a
welding major at ECC Compton Center. "EOPS helped ease my financial stress by providing me with book vouchers, meal vouchers and transportation assistance;' said Sledge.

START NOW! Early College High School
Compton Unified School District (CUSD) middle and high school students can get a jump on their
college education now with Early College High School classes offered by El Camino College Compton Center.
Local high school students who participate in this program take college classes offered by ECC Compton Center. The first 120 CUSD students began Early College High School in fall 2015.
Rising tenth grade student Ana Gonzalez just completed her first year of Early College High School. Her dream is to attend Stanford University to study law or environmental economics. "I enrolled in Compton Early College High School because I thought it was a great opportunity for me to get an associate degree while also earning my high school diploma:' said Gonzalez. "And, I will save a lot of money for my family at the same time!"
