July 2018 July Displays & Exhibits On the Art Wall in the Fireside Room: Don’t miss the exhibit of acrylic paintings and drawings of Christian Leon. Christian began drawing faces and developed his own line of cartoon characters. He is a young artist from Appleton and has participated in two studio shows in 2017 and 2018. His work was included in the December Winter Solstice Exhibit at The Draw in Appleton. Meet the artist on Thursday, July 19, at 5:30pm when Christian will be showcasing his talent with a Cooperative Art Demonstration with his niece Akzana. In the Glass Case in the Library Lobby: The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Neenah Menasha Flotilla 47-03 is presenting materials, books, uniforms badges, model boats, and also an LED slide show about their organization. All programs at the library are free and for everyone. The book gives a marvelous glimpse into the wild west and captures your heart. This book club will continue throughout the year. Teens and tweens are meeting on a Tuesday each month this summer at 1:00pm to discuss great novels for young adults. This month’s discussion will be on July 17 and will feature The Red Pencil by Andrea Davis Pinkney, a powerful story of one girl's triumphant journey, inspired by true tales of life in Sudan. Meet in the lower level Activity Room to discuss this book with Young Adult and Media Librarian Kirk Moore-Nokes. These book clubs are in addition to the long-standing, ever-popular Tuesday afternoon Nonfiction Book Club led every third Tuesday of the month at 1:00pm in the lower level Gegan Room by Adult Service Supervisor Joe Bongers.
