Osterloh NEEDS Previous conference participants have requested and supported the need for a comprehensive review and update in selected areas for the practicing neurologist, with an emphasis on diseases of myelin. As clinical neurology continues to evolve with the explosion of discoveries in the neurosciences, our neurology faculty and CME planning committee strongly concur with the need for such a conference. OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to: • Discuss the structure, function, and pathology of peripheral and central myelin • Describe mechanisms of central myelin disruption and their contribution to diseases such as multiple sclerosis, transverse myelitis and optic neuritis • Describe recent advances in the genetics of hereditary peripheral neuropathies • Discuss the role of immunomodulatory treatments in central and peripheral diseases of myelin • Identify strategies for management of epilepsy in women during pregnancy • Describe the role of neurosurgical interventions in metastatic disease to the central nervous system • Discuss new approaches in the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases • Evaluate patients with movement disorders related to the use of particular drugs. ACCREDITATION/CREDIT DESIGNATIONBaylor College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing MedicalEducation to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Baylor College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 14.75 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claimonly those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.

Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians.Determination of credit is pending.

Nursing contact hours have been applied for through the Texas Nurses Association, an accredit-ed approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’sCommission on Accreditation.

If you have not received confirmationat least 5 business days before the activity start date, contact the Office of Continuing MedicalEducation (OCME) immediately.

If you plan to register on-site, contact OCME at least 24 hours in advance to confirm activity status and space availability. The OCME reserves the right to limit the number of participants in an activity and will not be responsible for any expenses incurred by an individual whose registration is not confirmed and for whom space is not available.

Residents/Fellows can register online, but “verification of status” must besubmitted within 24 hours of registration via fax to 713.798.6600 or 713.798.7955.

Payment must be in U.S funds, payable to Baylor College of Medicine.

Continental breakfasts, breaks, luncheons, and syllabus are included in the registration fee.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICYRequests for registration refunds must be in writing and received by the Office of ContinuingMedical Education (OCME) at least 10 business days before the activity begins. The date therequest is received by the OCME will be considered the cancellation date. Requests received afterthe refund deadline will not be processed. Cancellations are subject to a $50 administrative feededucted from the registration fee paid to cover guarantees and other expenses. Requests shouldbe mailed to the OCME or faxed to 713.798.6600 or 713.798.7955.

The OCME reserves the right to cancel activities, not less than 10 business days before the scheduled date, if extenuating circumstances make it necessary. Registrants will be notified at thecontact number indicated on the registration form followed by written notification. If an activityis cancelled, OCME’s liability is limited to the registration fee paid.
