NETWORK AND INTERNET CENTER

Network and Internet Center is where all the important servers are located in a safe and secure

place. The data center is air-conditioned with adequate power backup. Internet Gateway is

also located here. The institute has an Internet connection of 100Mbps at 1:1 compression on

fiber handout. The internet connection is controlled and regulated by using a UTM device

which also filters any spam and virus using its antivirus and antispam database update.

The server room is connected to the main network back bone with a 10Gbps connection.

Intranet of the campus is fiber optic.

Cable backbone connecting different blocks and the main chassis switch is located in the APEX

block of the campus. Within the block the computer systems are connected to LAN by CAT

5/6 UTP cable.

The Elearn server is maintained in house and developed using open source software from

moodle. Online learning management system is implemented by several teaching faculty for

the benefit of students. Assessment and grading is found to be more effective and less

cumbersome using the moodle server.

Sub domains and domains are hosted on the server using hosting management

software and the panel provides controls and tools for easy control and

management of the hosted site.

Internet access is regulated to staff and students. Only after they login the network using their

username and password they are allowed to access internet. The browsing details are logged

in the server. Users are able to retrieve their username or password in case they forget them

Daily student attendance and academic performance is entered into the student information

system. Students as well as parents can monitor the performance online.

Digital library server maintains MSRIT repository of research papers, documents, past question

papers and other files.

College surveillance camera recordings are spooled on to the video storage and can be viewed

on any computer in the college LAN network.

Cyberoam UTM is used as firewall and to control web usage by the users. It also acts as virus

filter and blocks any unauthorized intrusion to our private network.

It provides compliance reports such as HIPAA, GLBA and PCI as well as comprehensive details

about the usage in the bandwidth.

Biometric attendance recorded from various biometric devices located in every department is

loaded to the server in the internet center. Here monthly reports are taken as per the

requirement of the establishment.
