Newsletter for Feb/March 2009
Beware of ATM Thieves operating in your area.
Safer Neighbourhood Teams are urging individuals
to take extra care when withdrawing money from
ATM machines as there has been recent news of
attempted thefts in the borough of Harrow.
The method is to tap the victim on the shoulder,
stating that they have dropped a £5 on the floor.
Whilst distracted the card is taken.
Harrow Borough still suffering from
burglaries.
We advise that all residents:
• Remember to shut all windows, big or
small. Please do this even if your house is
left unoccupied for a very short period of
time
• Make your house look occupied, lights left
on at night will help deter criminals. Also by
getting your mail collected by a neighbour
will aid us.
• You could also let your local Safer
Neighbourhood Team know that you are
planning to go on holiday and by letting us
know we will keep a watchful eye over your
property.
• Also do not leave car keys or handbags on
display via your front door as criminals have
been seeing this as an opportunity to steal
vehicles and personal items.

Cold Snap Causes Car Thefts As we patrol the streets, your Safer Neighbourhood Teams
appreciate more than most how cold it has been recently. The
urge to pop out, start your car and allow it to warm up in the
morning and evening, whilst finishing a cup of tea before
leaving for home or work is almost overpowering.
At least two cars have been stolen during the recent cold snap
while their owners were doing just this.
Please, please, please DO NOT leave your vehicle unattended
with the engine running, even on your own drive. In addition to
the loss of your car and contents, it is extremely unlikely that
your insurance company will cover the loss or any subsequent
damage if your car is taken in such a way.
