NEIGHBOURHOOD NEWS

SPRING HAS SPRUNG AT ASHBURY

With construction now underway, land is in demand with nearly all available lots from Stages One and Two being snapped up and only a handful remaining in Stage Three. Prospective purchasers are encouraged

to get in quickly as Stage Four - just released, is selling fast. Situated in a quiet pocket of the estate, it features a premier choice of elevated sites ranging from 272m2 to 715m2 – most of which are 32m deep, providing even more space for the house of your dreams.

With so much on offer for the residents of Ashbury, the Estate is definitely shaping up to be one of the Bellarine’s most sought after addresses!

With spring in bloom, Ashbury welcomes you to the first edition of Neighbourhood News – your best source to keep up to date on all things Ashbury!

CONSTRUCTION UPDATESince the official Turning of the Sod ceremony in June, civil works have been hampered by the extraordinarily wet weather that has been experienced across Victoria. Works are now fully underway with Stages One and Two under construction and our crews are trying to make up time lost to the weather. Stage Three will begin shortly.

We expect around 100 buyers to be able to take possession of their titled land at Ashbury this financial year. Builders will then be on site in force completing a large number of new homes for Ashbury’s excited first residents.

Dennis Family Corporation and Ashbury plan to give back to the community in which it operates, and recently began its support with a generous donation to the Country Fire Authority (CFA) Grovedale. The donation will help enable the brigade to invest in three heart defibrillators to aid the volunteers should an emergency cardiac arrest arise in the field.

CFA Grovedale Captain, Robert Clarke described the new defibrillators as a welcome addition to the already well-equipped brigade. “Not many people know that we carry heart defibrillators on board the fire truck, but should an emergency arise at an event or incident, and before an ambulance arrives, the equipment could potentially be life-saving,” he explained.

HEARTY DONATION TO CFA GROVEDALE

Ashbury is a proud member of the Geelong Supercats Basketball family and is committed to support the club throughout 2016. Through this sponsorship, Ashbury endeavours to inspire its local youths and adults to play an active role in the tight-knit club and community.

Keep an eye out for updates on the club’s Holiday Camps that teaches girls and boys, aged 5 through 13 years, the basic fundamentals of basketball. For one, two or three days, youths are coached by some of Geelong’s best basketball players and coaches from the Supercats club. The club also has an Elite Camp for older players who play Representative basketball or are aspiring in that direction. More information can be found on the website: supercats.com.au

TREE CHANGESpring plantings at AshburySpring is well and truly in the air. And at Ashbury Estate, we are gearing up to take advantage of the warmer weather by planting appproximately 90 advanced trees around Stage 1 of the new Development.

Ranging through to 4m in height, the carefully curated selection of species includes Red Maples

(Acer freemanii ‘Autumn Blaze’), Norway Maples (Acer platanoides ‘Crimson Sentry’)’, Smooth Barked Apples (Angophora costata) and Green Vase Japanese Zelcovas (Zelcovs serrata ‘Green Vase’), interspersed with majestic Lemon Scented Gums (Corymbia citriodora). Delivering an attractive year-round blend mix of green, red and yellow hues, they are guaranteed to provide an especially spectacular splash of colour each autumn.

The trees are being supplied by Yarra Valley based specialist suppliers, Established Tree Transplanters, and will be hand picked by our expert architectural landscape design team before being transplanted into Ashbury’s streetscapes and entry.

STYLING TIPS FOR YOUR BRAND NEW HOMEChoose what you can’t part withTake a long look at the furniture and accessories you currently have and think about whether you want to take them with you or give them a second home. Knowing what you have to work with is the best start to figuring out what your next home will look like.

Be strong and rid yourself of the things that you don’t need anymore – wobbly furniture, dusty accessories that are only seen in the garage and anything faulty! It’s the perfect time to do it and you can make a buck by selling it on eBay, having a garage sale or simply donating it to charity. Get the whole family involved to make decisions easier!

Mix old with newAlthough you want to part with older, faulty furniture and accessories, you also don’t want to lose character by buying everything brand new. Maybe you could find the perfect antique at a local vintage store, flea market or auction. Pieces with history – even though they may not be your own – add personality and your own personal style to your home.

In terms of new, take time to decide on investment pieces such as sofas, dining tables and chairs, and beds. These will most likely be with you the longest therefore you want to make sure you get quality and longevity out of them.

Pick a colour palette Do as the interior designers do and pick a palette based on a focus piece – whether it’s your favourite artwork or a patterned rug, pluck colours from it and let them dictate the décor. If these colours are bright, make sure you pair them with neutrals to create a calm balance as well as a future blank canvas if you replace that hero rug!

Colour accents are easily added with textured pillows and inexpensive prints. These smaller accessories are perfect to let your true character shine through and may remind you of your favourite moments – a holiday, a party, they will create a custom look that is specifically your own.

Getting a slightly daunting sensation when thinking about how you should style your brand new home? We pulled together a few tips and tricks to help you start decorating stress-free!
