Fortunately, Nedlands has other great venues that are available for our activities. It will be a temporary move and hope you are all able to continue attending your favourite classes. During the past three months, Affinity Members had the opportunity to join online classes such as Zumba Gold, Pilates, Chair Pilates and Choir. There was also the choice to follow Chair Yoga videos in You Tube and Tai Chi classes in Facebook from our dedicated teachers. Winter News 2020

We are back and looking forward to a great start of a new era for the Aff inity Club. Teachers and volunteers will be welcoming all our members and assisting them with the strict government guidelines during phase 4 (now) and phase 5 (starting on August 1)

Dalkeith Hall, our usual venue for most of our weekly activities, may not be operational for a good part of this Winter season due to required maintenance work. Fortunately, Nedlands has other great venues that are available for our activities. It will be a temporary move and hope you are all able to continue attending your favourite classes. Mt Claremont Community Centre will host some activities – please see the map (Page 2).

The scheduled activities shown in our calendar (page 4) will be run following government recommended advice. Teachers and volunteers have completed Covid-19 Infection Control training, received flu vaccines and will ensure the 2 square metre physical space amongst members.

What happened during quarantine?During the past three months, Aff inity Members had the opportunity to join online classes such as Zumba Gold, Pilates, Chair Pilates and Choir. There was also the choice to follow Chair Yoga videos in You Tube and Tai Chi classes in Facebook from our dedicated teachers. Additionally, there was also a recommended set of exercises prepared by Dr Nosaka from Edith Cowan University which have been very popular.

Most of you have told me that you enjoyed joining the online classes but would prefer to meet up again and enjoy being together in the usual venues. Although every eff ort was made to bring the fun aspect of each activity by our teachers, nothing beats the physical proximity of our group laughing and enjoying a unique experience together.

I was nicely surprised to hear from our teachers, how many members participated in the diff erent activities on off er. What a great eff ort from all concerned to remain involved in this unprecedented period of our lives. Some of you have written to me with very positive comments about our teachers Viviana Soto, Ilsa Smith and John Heyworth. It is great to know that their eff orts were appreciated and highly valued. I think that this experience has taught us that we need to become open to changes and take this period as another learning curve. Challenges are good for all of us. In this new era of Aff inity, I am keen to introduce computer classes where we can all feel confident to learn something new from doing Zoom to booking your GP appointments online. Small steps to become a confident IT user.

Winter 2020

Nedlands Affinity Club - July 2020Membership 2020-21 is now due!

This new financial year marks the beginning of the Aff inity Membership annual fee. The membership fee is $30 and will entitle all members to discounts in all our activities.

Payment for activities

We have explored the option of using EFTPOS to receive payments for classes. However, due to the nature of the activities we do and requirements of using an EFTPOS machine, we are unable to implement this at this time.

Where possible, please pay with the right amount and do not give us lots of small coins or small notes for large payments. This is to reduce risk of infection for all and reduce time counting money, when instead, we could be looking at other activities we can provide.

NEW ‘Activity Cards’

Purchasing ‘activity cards’ reduces the number of times you need to make payments and is quicker and easier when you turn up for an activity. Our new cards give greater flexibility for the activities you can do on the one card.
