Rexam Beauty has promoted special technology to allow the use of wood/plastic composite (WPC) in the injection molding of the base for "Aquarela" lipstick and the closure for "Due". Rexam Beauty supports the major trends in beauty worldwide with efficient and innovating packaging solutions. Moreover, new, modular and "fun" packaging systems are meeting the emergence of the young consumer segment.

Pumps hitting the cream market Today's consumers are looking for easier-to-use systems, now a growing trend in the packaging market for cosmetics. Pump-action dispenser systems are a perfect response to this new demand. Technology from Rexam, one of the leaders for dispenser systems, is today adapting to formulas with different viscosities, from fragrance to cream, to oil and gel. Here are the latest examples of products for which Rexam has supplied a pump: "Perfectionist" by Estée Lauder, "Olay" by Procter & Gamble, "Sephora Ligne Homme" by Sephora in skincare, and for foundation "Infaillible" by L'Oréal and "Margaret Astor" by Coty. Others will follow shortly.

At the present time we are seeing more and more brands turning to dispenser systems for face creams, foundations, bodycare treatments, suncare products and other applications. Both the mass-market and selective retail brands are adopting the system, which is now becoming increasingly popular. - A fruity and fresh fragrance for all young girls: With an SP8 Snap In® pump, the new Fairytopia for Barbie fragrance by Puig is a fine example of Rexam's ability to adjust to markets trends in the perfume sector. This is a fun fragrance shaped like a strawberry, coloured, very economical and intended for younger teenagers. The marketing brief specified very bright colours and a plastic option for both the PETX extruded inflated bottle and the pump and trim. Here, the SP8 shows the tolerance of Snap In® top pumps, ensuring perfect hold and air-tightness on an extruded inflated plastic bottle. This is a

"first" in the market. The actuator, ferrule and plastic cap make it possible to evolve the product in the most original colour shades. Rexam Dispensing Systems provided complete systems for the two key recent launches of men perfumes, Hugo Boss and Dior. Rexam was able to provide an answer to its customers’ aesthetic requirements, turning technical constraints into actual aesthetic and innovative assets.

One of the key challenges Rexam took up was to select and test metal and plastic raw material that were compatible with the fragrance.

Daring metal for the latest Dior man

With the new men's fragrance Dior Homme, Rexam Beauty was faced with a challenge that required and duly received a true technical exploit: plunging a stainless steel tube into the fragrance.

Since its introduction last September, everyone has been asking about this latest creation from Rexam.

For the first time, metal is dipped into a fragrance without impairing its colouring or its olfactive composition over time. A cylindrically shaped stainless steel tube concealer with the word "Dior" engraved upon it covers the dipper tube. The metal collar also sports an engraving of the luxury brand's name.

So how did Rexam Beauty succeed in developing such a feat of manufacturing and decoration? A genuine compromise solution to meet chemical, industrial, technical, style and quality requirements, the design is the end-product of synergies between Rexam Group units working around the world, combining European and Asian know-how.

The steel and metal conceal a pump kit manufactured by Rexam Dispensing Systems: the standard SP8 stopper pump and the ring are combined in a Crimpless™ environment on a FEA20 collar.

The kit is supplied pre-assembled and offers real logistic benefits as it helps to streamline product supply and optimize productivity on packing and filling lines.

Rexam produces Guerlain’s “Kiss Kiss”, the “gem” lipstick

Rexam has produced "Kiss Kiss", the new lipstick from Guerlain with all the look of a trophy. Adaptability and customized creation were the watchwords for Rexam in producing the latest gem of a lipstick for Guerlain, “Kiss Kiss”. "Precious, opulent, sensual and enigmatic" are the words used by Guerlain to describe the new product. It certainly is opulent courtesy of the material used in its manufacture, namely charged ABS to add weight to the object. The solid size also stems from the fact that Rexam produced the base in a single piece. There are several elements of technical sophistication in the new product:

1. Having to work with several different thicknesses, particularly for the logo. 2. Flexible uncapping, an operation made more complex by the use of charged material. 3. Production of the seal plane on the top, which is virtually invisible. The moulds used

helped to optimize engraving and give the whole piece shape and relief.

Rexam has used its experience in gold metallization and UV varnishing to obtain a perfect match between the colours of the mechanism and the end-colour of product dressing. Last but not least, “Kiss Kiss” features the Rexam Rouge 2000 mechanism, renowned for its excellent performance.

Rexam the name behind the latest lipstick from Bourjois, “Lovely Rouge”

For the latest “Lovely Rouge” lipstick from Bourjois, Rexam has produced the ideal solution through a combination of automation capabilities for the manufacturing process and perfect harnessing of colour techniques over the whole product.

Rexam was faced with a two-way challenge for the production and industrialization of the “Lovely Rouge” lipstick:

1. Creating a product with base trim and a mirror effect on the cap at a cost compatible with the competitive arena in the brand's market. This was achieved because for this first challenge Rexam totally automated the highly sophisticated cutting process and placed a piece of aluminium, used as a mirror, on the top of the cap. The same went for the hot-pressed trim and assembly of the base sub-component.

So Rexam had to be highly inventive in its manufacturing process to come up with a totally competitive product.

2. Perfectly engineering product-dressing colours with the specific requirement of a perfect fit between cap and base with no overrun. Rexam successfully met this demand through total control of colour and injection processes. This requirement is valid throughout the product's lifespan and for the full evolution of current and future colour shades.
