The Most Important Things about NEBULAE
• The word nebula means cloud, and describes anything we see in space that looks like a cloud
• The nebulae where stars are formed are ionized regions of molecular clouds known as “stellar nurseries”
• Planetary nebulae have nothing to do with planets, but are actually stellar remnants- the remains of a dying, medium sized star
• Some nebulae are supernovae remnants, left over after a star dies violently in a supernova explosion
