Building Systems Commissioning (BSC) is the process of verifying the technical systems within a new building to achieve the owner’s project requirements. The technical commissioning pro-cess is intended to improve the building’s per-formance from the design through construction completion and occupancy. This course covers the basic commissioning process for all disci-plines and the specific requirements for mechani-cal (HVAC) and control systems.

Jim BochatJim Bochat, President of Commissioning Concepts, has been involved in the Arizona Engineering and Construction industry for over forty years. His experience includes me-chanical design, mechanical construction, controls, test & balance, bommissioning and retro commissioning. Jim is a former NEBB President. He is a Life Member of ASHRAE and serves on the GPC-02, GL1.2, and PDC committees.

Jim is a frequent lecturer who has presented commissioning topics for numerous organizations and events, including Greenbuild, ASHRAE, AHR Expo, PECI, NEBB, SMARCA, IFMA, Southwest Plant Engineers, the RMA Chapter of APPA, Western Area Power Users, and AMCA of Aus-tralia regarding Commissioning.

Steve WigginsSteve Wiggins is an Associate Partner at Newcomb & Boyd. He is the past President of NEBB and former chairman of NEBB’s BSC Committee. He has more than 30 years of ex-perience in building systems commissioning. He has been working in the built environ-ment since 1975.

Steve owned a mechanical and electrical com-pany for eight years. Prior to that he worked for the United States Air Force at base level and headquarters AFCESA as the commissioning and retro-commissioning expert. He has master mechanical and electrical contractor licenses and is a co-author of NEBB’s Design Phase Commis-sioning Handbook.

BUILDING SYSTEMS COMMISSIONING (BSC) SCHEDULEThe NEBB Building Systems Commissioning Seminar has been substantially revamped based on the latest Building Systems Commissioning Procedural Standards and industry trends. • Seminar hours are 8:00 am. to 5:00 pm each day. • Topics will cover: • Commissioning process • Requirements of the NEBB BSC Procedural Standards • Instruction on building systems commissioning • Requirements for building systems commissioning • Requirements covering drawings and forms • Introduction to Control Systems • Extensive control systems review • Discussion on marketing and estimating commissioning services.

Attendee Requirements

Instruction is based on the assumption that all attendees have a thorough working knowledge of the requirements of these NEBB publications prior to attending the course. Prior to attending the seminar, attendees are expected to have:

1. A working knowledge of the NEBBProcedural Standards for Whole BuildingSystems Technical Commissioning of New Construction. (Free to download atwww.nebb.org.)

2. Familiarity with the NEBB Design PhaseCommissioning Handbook for HVACSystems (for purchase on nebb.org or viathis registration form).

a. Required: Bring both documentsto the seminar.

3. Laptop with Windows operating system,Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word andMicrosoft Excel.

a. Required: Attendees must befamiliar with the software prior to attending the seminar.

NEBB BSC CP CERTIFICATION & EXAM PROCESS:A STEPPED APPROACH

Professionals who desire to achieve theBSC CP certification and who want to sitfor the two exams at the conclusion of theBSC CP training seminar are required to bein compliance with and complete all certific-ation requirements and processes BEFOREattending the training seminar.

The certification process must be started wellin advance.

1. BSC CP certification requirements areavailable in the NEBB ComprehensiveCertification Handbook available on theNEBB website at www.nebb.org, oremail [email protected].

2. To obtain BSC CP certification andexam information, please [email protected].

3. Deadline for receipt of BSC CPApplication for Candidacy:Monday, October 3, 2016 a. Last minute applications and walk-ins to the exam will not be accepted.

4. Pre-requisites must be met and theBSC CP Application for Candidacymust be submitted for approval andthe certification application fees paid. a. Once approved, the Candidate will receive payment information for the BSC CP paper-based Written Exam.

5. Application for Candidacy fees andexam fees are separate from thetraining seminar fees. a. All exam-related fees are final

but can be transferrable.

6. Because a Candidate’s exam resultsare entered into Kryterion, NEBB’s online exam processing center, Candidates are required to set up a profile on Kryterion in advance of sitting for the BSC CP exams. a. Instructions on the process will

exams, must have all facets of thecertification process completed priorto attending the BSC seminar.
