Neangar Park Pony Club Newsletter, June 2014. DC Report Hi everyone, So last rally I was a bit disappointed at our Instructors, not those who came, but those who did not show up. Again I was faced with the difficult task of finding instructors at last minute, or wonderful parents to fill in as instructors, plus changing the groups/timetable around to make it all work. This highlights why I need you all to help me by letting me know you are coming to our rally by the Wednesday before. You are all getting better at it, but I want to make sure I really drum it in! ;) All turned out well in the end and we ended up with a great rally I think you all enjoyed. So, Thank you to our instructors who did come, Rose Walsh- flat, and Tanya Perry- Jumping, and a big thank you to Tracey who once again stepped in and took games for us. I would also like to thank Steph Horton and Will Cole for the help you gave me with the Browband Making. A big welcome to our newest members Laura Philbrick and Erin Stewart and to our come and try riders Matilda and Zoe. I hope you enjoyed your day and made a few new friends. We look forward to seeing your faces around a lot more! Well done to everyone who competed this month, it was great to see you all having a go at the games and Show Jumping day, and I know a lot of you had fun at Maldon Pony Club. Please let me know when you are competing, as its great to be out there representing your club, and I would love to know how you go! That’s all from me, I don’t think Ill be seeing you at the June Rally as Ill either have a new baby, or be very close to having one, so make sure you let me know how it goes. Tracy will be DC for the day, so be nice to her! Rebecca

Hannah Robinson and Cavvy have been invited by Midland Zone to

rider in their composite team, competing at the PCAV STATE Novelties

best of luck and hope they have a great experience.Hannah will receive

NPPC Showjumping Dressage Day

What a great day our Show jumping and Novelties day was.

We had 50 registered riders on the day, and everyone seemed to have a

fantastic day, thanks to our friendly club members and volunteers.

A huge thank you to Mel Robinson, Hannah Mika, Kate Jackson and the

marvellous Kev, for judging, pencilling, stewarding and picking up poles

ALL day in the Show Jumping Ring. Further BIG thankss go to Trista

Hoyland and Niomi Baxter, who judged and stewarded in the Novelties

ALL day. It is wonderful that we are now able to judge and manage our

Club events with our own members. Andrea would like to thank

everyone that helped in the canteen over the long day, especially, Steve

Mika and Bec’s mum, Veronica, who dropped in to help out while

visiting Bendigo. To everyone that helped with the set up on Saturday,

and / or helped out on Sunday in any way. THANK YOU.

These events are fundraisers, but more importantly are an opportunity

for our riders to compete in a friendly event at their own grounds. As a

2015, specifies that at least one

fundraiser, it is estimated that the canteen profited by $400, the raffle

$95 and, ticket sales, (after ribbon costs), $1400. This is an absolutely

brilliant result, there was also lots of positive and encouraging feedback

from many riders and families on the day.

The day’s winners where very happy with their prizes from our

fabulous sponsors: HORSELAND BENDIGO and CEPA. Please thank them

for their continual support when you see them next.

We are happy to report tht both Rommy and Laura, who “dismounted

awkwardly”, are on the mend from a sprained wrist and cracked rib

respectively: Both hope to be back riding soon. Recover quickly girls.

NPPC Bumper Sticker

The idea of creating aour very

own Club Bumper Sticker has

been floated. What do you think

of this ........

Did you know..... You may have seen a horse

making a strange expression

where it curls its upper lip and

bares its teeth into a wide grin.

This makes it look like it’s

laughing, it’s actually part of a

nose-enhancing technique

called a flehmen response.

Horses pull this amusing face in order to direct scents floating in the air toward olfactory glands that are located at the end of the horse’s nasal passage. The lip-curling and slight tilting of head help the animal to waft these smells toward these glands. The horse isn’t laughing at you, it’s just trying to determine whether you smell bad. The flehmen response is far more common in male than female horses. Much like giraffes, stallions often sample the urine of mares this way to check if they’re in heat

Melbourne Summer Royal Steph Horton and Mikayla O’Neill both competed at this year’s Summer

Royal, with both girls being awarded Champion Handler. Well done

girls!!!
