    Today, wireless LANs are as much a risk as are the wired enteprise networks. In fact, some of the

    recent high-profi le hacking cases have involved "drive-by" trolling of exposed wireless networks of retail establishments, resulting in the theft of thousands of consumer credit card accounts. FortiAP/FortiGate solution is ideal for meeting PCI DSS Wireless Guidelines, which require the detection of rogue wireless access points and intrusion prevention is the basic advanatge. The FortiAP/FortiGate architecture helps to tunnel all the wireless traffi c back to the UTM engine to undergo intrusion prevention and cleansing, identity-aware policy, and Layer 7 application prioritization to achieve a high-performing, fortified wireless LAN infrastructure. Also FortiAP uses standards-based CAPWAP (Control and Provisioning of Wireless Access Points) protocol for connecting thin access points

    What is the current scenario of UTM market in India and where you positioned Fortinet?

    UTM in India has now gained widespread acceptance with service providers and enterprises of all sizes. Fortinet is well positioned in this space,

    as we have kept our innovation ahead of the curve with FortiOS 4.0 operating system, which offers eleven functionalities, namely, fi rewall, intrusion prevention, VPN, antivirus/antispyware, web fi ltering, antispam, application control, L2/L3 routing, data loss prevention, WAN optimization and wireless LAN security. This puts our FortiGate product family ahead of the competition by leading the industry innovation curve. What are the new trends emerging in the UTM scenario?

    With mid-large enterprise customers seeking to work with fewer technology vendors and even fewer platforms, there is an increasing need to secure both wired and wireless networks within one single WLAN strategy is another emerging trend. Emerging preference to offer cloud based

    as compared to proprietary methods used by competitors.Do you think partners and customers are fully aware about the bene ts o ered by UTM products?

    Broadly yes but theres still room to socialize the benefi ts of FortiOS 4.0 with them, as end customers expectations of the technology increases which can benefi t all our customers as a whole.What are the major challenges before you in increasing sales and how are you addressing these challenges?

    UTM is a competitive market but we have done an excellent job of differentiating our leadership in the space. With so many me too solutions crowding the UTM market today, we have had to educate our consumers to identify solution architectures and vendor capabailities. Overcoming the misconception that UTM is not enterprise grade solution is an old challenge but this has come down considerable due to our aggressive promotion of case studies of Fortinets stronghold with service providers and enterprises of all sizes, including large enterprises from key vertical markets, both in India and worldwide. Encouraging our customers to turn on more functionalities already built into our UTMs is a major focus for us . How do you keep your channels informed and updated?

    We have an extensive marketing program designed to keep our channels informed about latest Fortinet developments and evolving in country market opportunities. Additionally, we anchor development and promotion of partner driven end consumer communications designed to address emerging market opportunities, promote latest Fortinet offerings or simply to leverage customer success to enter into newer market segments and verticals.What new products are you planning to launch in India?
