QUICK START GUIDE

Welcome to NCCER’s Instructor Resource Center! This site contains ALL end-of-module tests and performance profile sheets for the Contren® Learning Series. This website is

passcode-protected and is meant for INSTRUCTOR USE ONLY!

This new site provides more flexibility with our tests as we are able to make additions and corrections and upload them immediately so you always have the most recent

version. We recommend that you visit the site periodically and check out the What’s

New section for updates.

To access the site go to: www.NCCERContrenIRC.com and have your access code handy

for registration.

Please note: NCCER requires that your trainees pass these tests in order to receive the national

credentials. Instructors may use the TESTGEN software to scramble the order of exam questions and

create additional questions as desired. According to NCCER Accreditation Policies and Guidelines, existing

questions must not be removed from any module examination. Doing so may seriously jeopardize either

the accreditation status of the training program sponsor or any recognition of trainees, instructors, and

trainers through the NCCER National Registry.

The Registration Process Registering for the Instructor Resource Center is quick and easy! To start, select one of the boxes found

on the home page to locate your craft area.

Once you are on the product page, you can locate the craft by either using the drop down menu located

on the left side of the page OR just scrolling down the page until you locate it.

• Click the Login button that is found next to the book cover.

• Click the Register button that is located under the First-Time User section.

• You should now be on the License Agreement and Privacy Policy page. You must accept in order to

proceed with the registration process.

Now you are on the Access Information page where you will be asked to either create an account or enter

your login name and password for an existing account.

Do you have a Pearson Education Account? Select one.

• Yes

o Enter your Login Name and Password

NOTE: If you have already registered for Contren® Connect, you can use the same user

name and password. This will allow you to skip over all of the registration questions and

login directly to the site.

OR

• No

o Create and enter a login name and password that will be easy for you to remember. They

will be used each time you login from this point forward so please remember to store this

information in a secure location for easy reference. It is recommended that you have both

letters and numbers in your password.

Access Code

• Enter your Access Code. Your access code can be found inside of the Annotated Instructor’s Guide

under the peel off sticker. If you purchased an Access Card separately from the AIG, the code is

located on the inside of that card.

• Click the Next button in the lower right hand corner of the screen when you are ready to move on. NOTE: Access Codes can only be redeemed once. After you redeem the code, discard it.

Account Information You should now be on the Account Information section of the Steps to Register page set. Read below for

instructions on each of the subsections for this page. If you already had a Pearson Education account

some of this information may be filled in. Please confirm that the information is correct.

• Personal Information – Confirm or enter your title, first name, last name, and email address

where indicated.

• School Location –Select the country of your school from the list/drop down menu. Next, enter the

zip/postal code. If your school is not listed, select “Other” from the bottom of the list and type in

your school name, city, and state (e.g. Jim’s School of Construction, Newburgh, NY).

• Security Question – This question is used to protect your account and personal information. In

the event that you contact us and your identity must be confirmed, a product support

representative will ask you the question that you select. Confirm or select the question you want

and type in the answer in the space provided. (e.g. Pets name or date of birth, etc..).

• May We Contact You? – Select if you are interested in sharing academic perspective on

educational texts and online products. Click the Next button in the lower right hand corner of the

screen when you are ready to move on.

Confirmation & Summary You should now be on the Confirmation & Summary section of the Steps to Register page set.

Congratulations! You have successfully registered! You will receive a confirmation email; however it is

recommended that you print out this page for your records.

Having successfully registered, you may now enter the Instructor Resource Center documents by going

back to the craft area page and selecting Login and typing in your Login Name and Password under

Returning User.

Downloading Tests and Performance Profile Sheets

Once you login, you will be brought to the Instructor Resource Page for that craft area. ALL LEVELS of

that craft will be located on this page. Please note that these tests were designed to be used with

TESTGEN SOFTWARE. If you do not have TESTGEN SOFTWARE, follow the directions on the next page to

download the software.

Downloading Tests

• To download the tests click on “TestGen MAC or PC Version” for the level you want.

• You will be asked to either Open or Save the files. Select Open the files to view the tests

immediately. Select Save to download the files to your computer.

• Once you make a selection, the download will automatically take place.

Downloading Performance Profile Sheets

• To download the Performance Profile Sheets, click Performance Profile Sheet for the level you

would like.

• Once you make a selection, the PDF document will automatically open on your computer. Under

the File menu, select Save As to save it to your computer for future use.

Downloading TestGen Software In order to use the test files, you need to have the TESTGEN SOFTWARE installed on your computer. To

download this free software, please follow the below steps.

• At the bottom of the product page under the downloads, select Click here where it says. “Need the

TestGen Program? Click here to access download site.”

• You will be brought to the TESTGEN site. Select downloads.

• You will be prompted for a Login name and password. Use these generic credentials:

Login Name: tginstructor

Password: testgen

• Once you’ve entered the TESTGEN site, select TestGen Desktop Applications, which is the first

option under Downloads.

• There is an option to select either the PC OR MAC version. Select the appropriate version and click

Run. The software will automatically download to your computer.

NCCER’s Feedback Form You are now able to provide immediate feedback on the tests to NCCER electronically! To do so, take the

following steps.

• At the bottom of the product page under the downloads, select Click here where it says, “To send

suggestions or corrections to the NCCER click here.”

• You will automatically be brought to the electronic form. Fill it out and select Submit Feedback.

NCCER will review the feedback and will work with SMEs to determine how best to handle.
