Application Hosting Goals

• Embrace cloud technology through the use of virtual machines

and on demand ordering to provide cost effective solutions

• Streamline the deployment process and implement self-

provisioning

• Improve the ADC process to reduce deployment time, and

customer cost

• Ensure a smooth transition to the ITS EPA II contract

• Create a development environment to expedite deployment to

staging and production environments

• Improve operational awareness and outage notification

process

• Work to provide excellent customer service

• WAN 2010 replaces EPA’s aging network with a state-of-the-art Wide Area Network (WAN)

• Goals– Provide greater capacity

– Enhance performance

– Enable stronger security (and compliance with the Trusted Internet Connection (TIC))

– Create scalability and flexibility to meet dynamic business needs

• WAN 2010 includes several changes

– Hardware Refresh

– New security infrastructure: Trusted Internet Connection (TIC)

– AT&T becomes EPA’s Managed Service Provider

– Design

• Any-to-any architecture

• Voice, video and data supported by a single network

• Prioritized traffic for voice, video and business-critical

applications during times of network congestion

• Improvements include

– Reduced number of contractors on ADC calls

– Improved Agency security by including the IMO/ISO

– Reduced decommissioning lifecycle to under 30 days

– Consistent cost estimates using the Hosting Pricing Worksheet

– Faster provisioning of IP addresses (24 hours)

– Shortened timeframe to add servers to the AAA domain

– Reduced the data required to submit an ADC
