The reason they are switching UV treatment off is being environmental friendly by cutting carbon dioxide emissions. But what about being friendly for all year round water users and letting them know where the raw sewage is being discharged? MONTHS OUTSIDE THE BATHING SEASON are the best months for surfing around the UK and hundreds of thousands of surfers around the UK will plunge into the cold, quality waves throughout the depths of winter. Ingestion and immersion is a part of the water sports experience and this results in surfers being 3 times more at risk of infections from polluted waters. It recognizes 5 most common and very harmful bacterias and viruses: hepatitis, vibrio, poliomyelitis, salmonella, shigella. ULTRA VIOLET TREATMENT (UV) is a process where ultraviolet light is applied to sewage effluent to reduce levels of bacteria in water used for bathing or water sports. Switching off the UV means that raw sewage is being discharged in to the sea/ocean. RAW SEWAGE contains a number of batteries and viruses. Most of the batteries are harmless, but some of them are pathogenic bacterias causing serious illness like Vibrio cholerae, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella paratyphi and Shigella dysenteriae. Viruses which are released in the faeces from infected host are also occasionally found in sewage, for example, poliomyelitis virus, infectious hepatitis virus and coxsackie virus. Bacteriophages also occur in comparatively large numbers. During treatment process the microbial flora may be dominated by the corresponding physiological groups. The way of giving WTLG to water users would be making it as a part of the tag/label.
The label/tag would come with many water sprots products such as: surfboards, bodyboards, kites, kiteboards, wetsuits, windsurfing equipment etc.
The WTLG water tester can be custom made by choosing your own shape, your own bacteria cells shape and choosing your own design, adding your logo.
Or you can just choose one of premade ones.
