Wellbeing and LifestyleChanges to the management of care recipient’s personal spending - Introducing Capital Guardians

Nazareth Care is introducing a clearer process in managing residents personal spending and the way we manage payments on care recipients’ behalf. To streamline the management of care recipient’s personal spending and to remove the need to hold significant amounts of cash on site, we will be introducing Capital Guardians.

Capital Guardians are a company who provide a complete governance system for financial budgeting, management and reporting, and who hold monies in ‘trust’ accounts. This is actioned by audit trail of authorisation, budgets, invoice approvals and payments.

From 1st January 2018, Nazareth House Camberwell will not be involved in care recipient’s personal expenses. The new arrangement covers daily expenses which include ‘outings’, pharmacy, hairdressers, shop purchases, trolley purchases, and newspapers as follows:

• Capital Guardians hold a small amount of cash in trust for each care recipient

• The account will automatically top up from via direct debit once the balance falls below a Minimum as per registration

• Care recipients’ and their families/guardians have on-line access to all invoice information, Statements, balances and control suppliers and expenditure limits

• Suppliers will directly invoice Capital Guardians and are paid weekly

If you choose not to use a Capital Guardians account, you will be required to make payment

arrangements for goods and services directly with the service providers. Below is a list of Nazareth Care Camberwell service providers. A Capital Guardians brochure is available at reception.

Getting to Know You .. Care Recipient -

It has been 15 months since I first walked through the reception doors at Nazareth House Camberwell.It was the beginning of my new career chapter as an Administration Manager. The journey, lessons, learning curve have been incredible. Working at Nazareth Care has been and still is a joy, meeting the wonderful care recipients and working closely with a wonderful group of colleagues, with all the same end goal……to assist and enrich the care recipients with their everyday lives with much love, sincerity, will and spirit. • 8 (75g) plain chocolate biscuits, broken into pieces• 1 orange• 250g cream cheese, chopped, at room temperature• 60ml (1/4 cup) sweetened condensed milkProcess the biscuits in a food processor until fine crumbs form. Transfer to a bowl. Clean the food processor.Finely grate the rind of half the orange. Use a zester to zest the remaining orange half. Juice the orange.Process the cream cheese, condensed milk, finely grated orange rind and 2 tablespoons of orange juice in the food processor until smooth.Divide the cream cheese mixture among 4 small serving glasses. Top with the biscuit crumbs and place in the fridge for 1 hour or until chilled. Top with the orange zest.
