One day my friends and I decided to go to the Formula 1 race, we made all the reservations really fast: flight tickets, race tickets and the backpacker, the only thing that lasted very long was the waiting for the day of the trip. But of course, Melbourne wasn’t only about that, so we booked for a couple of tours and we planned to explore the city. The first day we had a tour that no one can stop doing, The Great Ocean Road. This tour gives you the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful view of the coast until it becomes even more gorgeous when you get to the 12 apostles. This collection of limestone stacks off the shore of the Port has made this place an important and popular tourist attraction. When we got there, we took a helicopter that gave us an incredible journey along the coast and they explained to us about these formations in the sea, the reason for its name, and other facts.

The second day we walked around the city, we visited some sport places such as Etihad Stadium and Rod Laver Arena, also we could see its mix of Victorian and contemporary architecture, its tower, which you can admire all the city, its extensive network of trams, gardens and parks. In the city we could feel the Grand Prix spirit. In addition to that, in afternoon hours we could hear the engines of cars as it was the pole position. We were very excited.

The fourth day we went to the Albert Park to see the F1, there were lots of entertainment to keep us busy before the race. There were old cars exhibitions, motocross, jet boats all over the lake, food, teams merchandise, a Quantas plane flying very low, others cars competitions and many things more!. When the time of the race came and the cars started so we can hear the sound of engines, we took for granted our dreams; it was incredible to be there! It was so loud that by the half of the race my ears started to hurt, forcing me to wear the earplugs.

On the last day in Melbourne we went to another tour that is also very beautiful, Phillip Island Penguin Parade. This tour included wine tasting, a stop in a chocolate factory and in a Koala reserve until finally we got to the island where we could see wallabies and beautiful small penguins.

There are other interesting things that you can do in Melbourne that we couldn’t do for lack of time!! So if you decide to go, enjoy!! I know you won’t regret it!!...
