Rudy and Liz Bernath traveled to London in September, 2009. They toured London with side trips to Stonehenge and Oxford, took, the bus to Dover and sailed on NCL cruise ship for the transatlantic trip—visiting Lerwich, Shetland, Iceland (Blue Lagoon), Halifax, Nova Scotia and finally New York City.

Richard Zilka reports that he and his wife Marie have a street named after them (in Chicago on Rutherford from 60th to 63rd street). Also, Representative Dan Lipinski put Richard on the Congressional Record in Washington, D.C. for his 80th birthday.

Bill McKinley, a 41 year employee, retired 2 years ago. Bill went back in 2008 to help with the Expo and will be going back again in 2010 to do the same thing. He and his wife, Jean, fulfilled a lifelong dream, traveling Route 66 from downtown Chicago to Santa Monica Beach, California in April. Bill says, “What a great trip. Anyone our age who hasn’t done it, Should! It goes through 8 states-each with its own terrains, climates and points of interest. It took a week and 2 days to go from Chicago to California.”

Tom Trueblood and wife Nancy let us know that they moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina last June to be close with their children and grandchildren.

Janis Schmelter attended the 61st Navistar women’s bowling tournament in Fort Wayne, Indiana and is still acting president of the tournament. She wants you all to know that the 62nd tournament will be held during May 2010 in Springfield, Ohio and all women, active and retired, are invited to participate---whether they are regular bowlers or not. Anyone interested in information about the women’s bowling tournament can call me at (847)755-0065. She also writes that getting her house ready to put on the market and visiting her 96 year old mother has kept her busy.

Melva Walker was on the Elmhurst Finance Task Force from July 15 through mid-October. But she

advises that the best thing for her was becoming a great-grandmother on May 7, 2009 –her name is Abigail Leah May, a real cutie!

Eileen Strong says I have stayed close to home. However I have done fairs, concerts and many weekend trips. I’m still involved with all my clubs, Secretary of the Women’s Federation of the 5th Congressional district, 1st VP of the Past President’s Club of DuPage, Recording Secretary of the Women’s Club of Hindale and President of the Hinsdale WC Garden Club. I enjoyed the NICARC summer outing with the games and would love to do it again.

NAVISTAr rETIrEES:http://www.navistarretiree.org/

Jack Brey, one of our NICARC directors, has established this website for Navistar retirees. If you log on to the website, you can register with your name. In addition, you may also provide your address, phone and email, the Navistar location and your years of service. The additional

information is optional and you may choose not to display it on the internet.

Part of the benefits of the website is that we will post items of interest to you. These will include events to be held for our retirees, all of the pictures we take at our luncheons and, more important, items we receive from you.

If you would like to have an item posted, it must be in electronic file format (that is Word, PDF, jpg, etc.) You should email the electronic file as an attachment to: [email protected]
