As of 9th Grade, we are keeping score GPA is important because…. GPA is figured by dividing the total

number of “points” accumulated by the number of credits taken.

For non-weighted classes: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0.

After her ninth grade year, Sara has earned 6 credits. Her report card shows:

As with any average, the GPA is MUCH easier to influence at the beginning than at the end.

It is very important for students to understand this and work hard during their ninth grade year to build the strongest possible GPA.

EVERY form or application they fill out for the next ten years will ask about their GPA.

Pre-AP and AP classes are weighted as an incentive for enrollment and to determine class rank.

AP classes: A=6 B=5 C=4 D=1 F=0 PreAP: A=5 B=4 C=3 D=1 F=0 All others: A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1 F=0

Concurrent college classes are not weighted.

RequirementsTo enroll in the Oklahoma's Promise program, you must be: an Oklahoma resident; enrolled in the eighth, ninth or 10th grade in an Oklahoma

high school the child of parents whose income is not more than

$50,000 per year.

Applications must be: completed during the school year in the student's eighth-,

ninth- or 10th-grade year

Requirements To be eligible for Tulsa Achieves, students must: Apply to Tulsa Achieves as a high school senior Graduate from a public or private high school, or home school Graduate High School with at least a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale Reside in Tulsa County while in high school and maintain Tulsa County

residency while in the program. Be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Resident of the U.S.

Program Description For eligible students, Tulsa Achieves pays up to 100% of tuition and fees

for a maximum of 63 college credit hours. As a gap-funding program, Tulsa Achieves pays any remaining balance after all state, federal and private aid and grant funding have been applied. There is no cost to the student!*

Tulsa Achieves students begin their coursework the fall semester after high school graduation and may continue in the program for 63 credit hours of three years, whichever comes first.

*Tulsa Achieves does not cover the cost of books.

CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT Concurrent enrollment is a program by which

students can earn both college and high school credit for college courses taken. Students may use one or more hours of the regular school day for this purpose. For more information, contact your school counselor. The total cost for the course is $12.75.

TCC requires a composite score of 19 on the ACT and a sub-score of 19 for the class subject. Please plan to take the ACT by April or June of your Sophomore year to take full advantage of this amazing opportunity.

Requirements: Be classified as a high school junior or senior at

the time classes begin and be currently enrolled in a high school.

Complete a Secondary Admission Application and return it to a high school counselor or Tulsa Tech representative. Application forms are available at each of the Tulsa Tech sites and local high schools.

Participate in a personal interview with a Tulsa Tech representative to determine applicant's ability to benefit from training. Items considered are as follows: GPA and selected test scores Application and personal interview Occupational interest
