    Customizing the presentation of data

You can use several features of Oracle Applications to enhance your proficiency in the system.

Use a Navigator top ten list to put your commonly used forms on your Navigator. By using

special forms, you can customize the presentation of data or fields. Additionally, you can

create a folder definition in which you can save query criteria. This lesson explains how to use

these features to make your access to the system easier.

Sign on to the system using ebusiness / welcome

    Click on the Financialstab

    Expand Assets, Vision Operations (USA)

Expand Assetsand click on Asset Workbench

By clicking on the Navigator symbol in the tool bar, you are able to access all functions

available to the Assets, Vision Operations responsibilty, without having to return to the

E-Business portal. All Functions listed here use so called Oracle Forms.

    Top Ten List

If there are forms that you use frequently, you can add them to a navigation top ten list located

on the right side of the Navigator window. The top ten list displays your forms numerically so

you can choose them instantly without having to search for them in the navigation list. You

can create a different top ten list for each responsibility for which you have access. A top ten

list is unique for the responsibility and user sign-on combination that you use.

    Double-click on (N) Assets

Click on Asset Workbench once and activate the add to list arrow. Asset Workbench

can now be called directly from the top ten list.

    Folders

A folder is a special block in which the field and record layout can be customized.

Although you have access to all of the records of a specific entity in a folder, you can

customize a folder to retrieve only a subset of records and display those records in a specific

layout. You can save your customizations to a folder definition, which defines the layout ofyour fields and the query criteria used to retrieve your subset of records.

Folders are language-specific. If you are running the application in German and save a folder,

then if you later sign on in French, the German folder will not be accessible to you. This is

because the prompts and search criteria you enter for a folder are language-sensitive.

How to create a new folder definition:

    Double-click on Assets Workbench

    Close the find assetswindow

Click on (M) Folder > New.

Enter a name for your folder using this format: XX_Folder.

    (XX = your initials)

    (B) OK

You will see your new folder is now shown at the top left portion of the Assets screen. You are

now able to customize your folder according to your requirements.

    Customizing folders:

You can directly manipulate folder columns using the following techniques:

Drag the right edge of a prompt to resize the column

Drag the center of the prompt to resequence the columns.

Delete the prompt to hide the column

Change the order of columns by moving to the left or right

Once you have placed your cursor in the field or column you would like to customize, the

options available can be viewed by activating the Folder Tools icon:
