Introduction• Welcome Adventure Seekers! Your mission is to seek

out and understand nature's wild forces. Should you choose to accept the challenge, your goal is to inform other natural disaster thrill seekers of the natural phenomenon of volcanoes, earthquakes, tornadoes, or hurricanes. Using your informational writing skills, you will create a brochure that details the following key questions:

1. How and why does the event occur?

2. What are key locations in the world where the disasters are prevalent and why?

3. What important safety measures can one follow if they re ever in nature's fury?

4. Looking back in time, what are major disasters and what can we learn from them to help us in the future?

Task• Your task is to research, design, and create an

informational brochure and pictorial display for other thrill seekers such as yourselves. Using your highly defined writing skills, your brochure will contain information

Process5. As a team, write a rough draft your portion of the brochure.

Remember to include titles, captions, headings and illustrations as a part of the informational writing.

6. Please refer to the additional resources section of the quest for interactive webbing tools, essay maps, informational on paragraph writing, and other graphic organizer such as the hamburger form to aid you in the writing process.

7. Have two other members of your class edit your portion of the brochure using the checklist printed from below. Click on the icon on the bottom of screen

8. Meet with the teacher as a final review before completing the final product.

9. Use Microsoft Word and the brochure templates available to create your final product. Each student may work individually and then cut and paste to put the final product together.
