WHATS NEED OF WATER ?

Water is important constituent of life support, for life it act as ventilator and its a natural resource. The life is originated in the water during primitive condition gradually the time is passed life divided into several fate.

We depend on water for irrigation , industry, domestic needs, shipping and for sanitation and disposal of waste .3

WHAT IS WATER POLLUTION ?

When undesirable change in the physical, chemical or biological characteristics of water that may harmfully affect the life of any living organism and it directly or indirectly change the component of biosphere thats harmful to the living beings.

Any substance which causes pollution is called pollutants like any solid, liquid or gaseous substance present in such concentration that may have adverse effect on environment.5

CHIEF SOURCES OF WATER POLLUTION

Sewage and domestic wastes( human excreta, paper, cloth, soap, detergents etc).

Industrial effluents (oil, plastics, metallic wastes, suspended solid, DDT, dyes, cyanides etc).

Agricultural discharges (fertilizers and pesticides).

Industrial wastes from chemical industries, fossil fuel plants and nuclear power plants.6

To check dissolved oxygen in water by the help of Winkler dissolved oxygen test.

To check by biochemical oxygen demand.

To check by chemical oxygen demand.

By the help of turbidity.

By the help of total solids.

To check nitrogen and phosphorous content in water body.8

Minamata disease - by Mercury antidote BAL(dimercaprol).

Leadlapsy- by lead.

Knock-knee syndrome- by fluoride molecule.

Itai-itai / ouch-ouch disease- by cadmium.
