1. Q. How are you assuring the ingredients sourced for this product are GMO free? A. We only use ingredients that come from non-GMO seeds or that do not have GMO varieties. While there are GMO varieties of alfalfa, our suppliers are certified to only plant and harvest non-GMO alfalfa. 2. Q. What crops are currently GMO? A. The agricultural crops currently using GMO seeds for control of insects and herbicide resistances are: corn, soybeans, canola, cotton, alfalfa, sugar beets, papaya and summer squash. Not all of these crops are grown using GMO seeds, but GMO technology is available for these particular crops. 3. Q. Can I get Naturals in my area? A. Initially, Triple Crown ® Naturals will only be available along most of the east coast. We hope to expand to other parts of the country in early 2016. 4. Q. Does Triple Crown have any other GMO free products available? A. Yes, the Naturals Pelleted Horse Feed is the start of a new classification of GMO free products sold by Triple Crown. These products will include: Golden Ground Flax (currently Omega Max ® ), Triple Crown Alfalfa and Alfalfa-Timothy Forage Cubes, Triple Crown Oats and Timothy Balance ® Cubes. 5. Q. What is the NSC value of this product? A. The NSC of Triple Crown Naturals is 19-21%, which is considered a moderate level of starch and sugar. 6. Q. Is there a non-GMO product available that is not in a pellet form? A. Not from Triple Crown. We developed Naturals as a pellet to avoid cross contamination with soybean oil and molasses, typical liquids used in making textured feeds. 7. Q. Can I get Naturals as a textured feed? A. In order to avoid using GMO ingredients at the feed mills where we currently manufacture Triple Crown, the product has to be in a pelleted form at this time. 8. Q. Is Naturals good for my horse with a metabolic disorder (Cushing’s, insulin resistance, PSSM, etc.)? A. Unfortunately, most of the ingredients used for low NSC (soluble carbohydrate) feeds today are based on soybean meal, soy hulls or beet pulp, which are all GMO-based crops. While the ingredients we use are not nearly as high as corn or barley, they still elevate the NSC into the median range of 19-21%. So, the condition of your metabolically challenged horse will determine if Naturals will work for you. Please contact us at 1-800-451-9916 for a recommendation from one of our feeding experts. 9. Q. Is Naturals good for senior horses? A. Yes, the protein content and the high fiber allow Naturals to function very well as a senior diet with about the same calorie content as most other senior feeds on the market.

10. Q. Is Naturals good for young, growing horses? A. It is good for weanlings and yearlings, as well as broodmares during gestation and lactation. However, it is not our first choice nutritionally for young foals. Calorie and amino acid intake would be a concern, as there are higher requirements for these horses than what is provided in Naturals. Supplementation would be recommended.

11. Q. Is Naturals good for minis and ponies? A. It is not our first choice nutritionally for this class of horse. Because of their typical low feeding rate, there would be a shortage of some essential vitamins and minerals in the diet. Supplementation would be recommended.

12. Q. Does this product include the same EquiMix® technology that the other Triple Crown Feeds do? A. Yes, it does. All Triple Crown feeds use EquiMix as part of the formula. In fact, we take Naturals’ EquiMix a step further by incorporating an organic form of yeast.

13. Q. What is EquiMix Organics? A. EquiMix Organics is the standard EquiMix package, including organic minerals, probiotics and prebiotics, we have used in Triple Crown products for years. The only difference is that for the EquiMix Organics in Naturals, we are using an organic yeast culture not used in our other products. This does not imply that Naturals is 100% organic, but it is just one more way to ensure the ingredients that make up Naturals are non-GMO. 14. Q. What if I find a piece of corn in my Naturals bag? A. Naturals will not be certified non-GMO because the facilities manufacturing it are not capable of having separate manufacturing lines. We will make every effort to avoid any contamination with other ingredients in the processing and handling lines.

15. Q. What are wheat middlings? A. Wheat middlings, also called wheat midds, are the outside hulls remaining after the wheat is ground for flour. They are similar to wheat bran, but smaller and contain more of the wheat germ and about the same amount of energy as grains, without much of the starch and sugar. They are widely used in the feed industry and are grown with non-GMO seeds. 16. Q. Will Triple Crown Naturals Horse Feed become certified by the Non-GMO Project? A. No, the Non-GMO Project would evaluate the production process and since it is not self-contained, it would not qualify for certification. This is similar to the process for organic feeds.
