•The organisation of living things
Table of contents
• What do living things do ?• What are living things made up of ?• How are animals organised ?• How are plants organised ?• What systems do living things have ?
What do living things do ?
All living things carry out the basic life processes of : InteractionNutritionReproduction
Interaction
• All living things detect information in their enviroment
Nutrition
• All living things take essential nutrients from their environment
Reproduction
• Living things can create new members of their own species.
What are living things made up of ?
• All living things are made up of :• Cells
Animal cell
Nucleus
• The nucleus controls everything that happens inside the cell
Membrane
• The membrane surrounds and protects the cell.
• The nucleus and cytoplasm are found inside the membrane
Organells
• In cytoplasm , we fin special organells that carry out different life processes.
Cytoplasm
• Cytoplasm is a thick clear liquid protected by the membrane.
Plant cell
Organelles
• In the cytoplasm of plant cell , there are special organelles called chloroplasts.
Nucleus
• Controls everything that happens inside the cell.
Membrane
• The membrane surrounds and proctects the cell.
Cell wall
• Plants cell have a rigid cell wall around the membrane.
Vacuole
• Plant cells have a vacuole which is like a bag.• Food and water are stored in the vacuole.
Unecellular and multicellular organisms
• Some living things, such as bacteria or yeast, are made up of only one cell.
• Other living things , such as trees or butterflies have many cells
How are animals organised ?
• If we put a lot of cells toghether we form tissue
• If we put a lot of tissue toghether we form organs
• If we put toghether a ot f organs we form a system
Type of cells:
• Red blood cells
• Nerve cells
• Reproductive cells
How are plants organised ?
• If we put a lot of cells toghether we form tissue
• If we put a lot of tissue toghether we form organs
• If we put toghether a ot f organs we form a system
The plants have:
• Roots: its the part that absorbs water and nutrients from the soil
• Stem : its the part that supports the plant and transports water, minerals and sap.
What systems do living things have ?
• Nutrition :we use it to transform the substances that we need to live and grow
• Interaction: we use it to detect information about the world and us to react to the information
• Reproduction: we use it to reproduce by having children.
