From Klamath Lake to Lanablue® Klamath Lake is a basin covering 615 km2, with an average depth ranging from 110 to 120 cm. It is permanently fed by rivers and waterfalls coming from the melting snow and glaciers of the mountains in the volcanic Cascade Range. This pure water is enriched by water percolating from Crater Lake, which is a very extraordinary geology. The situation has created water with outstanding mineral wealth. The thick layer of sediments bestow on Klamath Lake its highly unique nutritional properties. The lake is also called Medicine Lake, the Shield of the Volcano or the Sleeping Monster. The Klamath Indians say that the water of the Lake has the power to confer shamanistic powers on wise men or medicine men who come there to fast and to bathe.

A unique blue-green alga

A unique micro-algae extract, from Cyanophyta class. This bacterium fixes the atmospheric nitrogen and helps maintain the unique protected eco-system of Klamath Lake. The role of this blue-green alga has been vital in the evolution of species. This alga appeared around 3.5 billion years ago and is the first photosynthetic oxygen-producing organism. It is a creator of atmospheric oxygen, which is essential for all species.

A unique and rich composition Aphanizomenon flos-aquae var.flos aquae is rich in:

• Lipids: 3 to 5% among which 1.4% linolenic acid and 0.4% linoleic acid.

• Proteins: 60%, amino acids in a free form among which Threonine, Valine, Methionine & Cystein,

Isoleucine, Leucine, Phenylalamine & Tyrosine, Lysine.

Protocol

Immunological marking on a skin explant.

The explants are then treated for 48 hours with a solution containing 3% Lanablue®.

Protocol

• 40 women using a cream containing 3% Lanablue®, twice a day, during 21 days.

• Silicon eye imprints are taken Day 0 and D21.

The analysis focus on:

• The complexity. It represents the asperities of the cutaneous microrelief combining the wrinkles number and their depth. A decrease shows a smoothing effect.

• The average depth. A decrease shows a smoothing effect.

• The Isotropy, because it shows the orientation of the furrows. A young skin has got a low isotropy, no directions are favored. Wrinkles tend to orientate all furrows. A diminution of the isotropy shows a smoothing effect.
