About:
The natural resource sector in Tunisia has contributed to the state building of the country and played a big role in its social and economic
development. The sector witnessed different phases impacted by the changing political, economic and social context. The intricacies of
this field made it a controversial one surrounded by doubts and considered as opaque by many stakeholders. This course aims to enhance
the participants understanding of the sector and related challenges based on the international experiences and adapted to the specificities
of the Tunisian context.
Organizers:
The course will be co-organized by:
The Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) is and independent and non-profit organization working on data, analysis,
applied research providing policy advice, advocacy, and capacity development. NRGI helps people realize the benefits of their
countries’ endowments of oil, gas and minerals.
Institut Arabe des Chefs d'Entreprises (IACE): The course will be organized in partnership with IACE, an independent think tank
aiming to serve as a bridge between research and policy by bringing academic rigor to the study of current policy issues.
Approach:
The course facilitates an exchange of expertise, experiences and advocacy strategies in the extractive sector while bridging the gap between
governmental and non-governmental entities and hence broadening the network of sector actors working for better natural resource
management so that citizens can realize their fair share and their country’s sustainable development. It also equips the participants with the
relevant competencies to make a positive contribution in transforming the resource governance in Tunisia.
The coursework strikes a balance between lectures, case studies and interactive sessions.
A certificate of completion will be awarded to participants.
