PILE LIFTING - DRY EXTRACTION 1- Scope your facility to determine the carpet problem areas, then determine the lie of the carpet pile. The Pile Brush is a ready-to-use machine. Just plug into the outlet. The height of the handle can be freely adjusted to desired height.

2- Run the Pile Brush forward two to three steps and pull back over the same area. This is where the pile brush is most effective, lifting the pile and removing the deeply embedded soil. The Pile Brush action is complete on the back stroke, against the lay of the nap.

3- Adjust the pile brush handle to a 90° angle and place a wooden block behind the brush to keep from flattening out.

ROTARY SHAMPOO 1- Thoroughly vacuum the area to be cleaned. For optimum results, use a pile brush if available.

2- Remove spots and stains using the appropriate spotting chemical

3- Mix shampoo cleaning solution according to product label instructions

4- Use “pump up” sprayer or fill solution tank on the rotary machine

5- Pre-spray chemical ahead of rotary machine and scrub designated area until a layer of foam is generated. Work across the carpet in a slow, side to side motion. Move slowly backward, making sure to overlap the cleaned area. Be careful no to over wet the area.

6- Use air movers to speed up drying time

7- When dry, vacuum area thoroughly

EXTRACTION 1- Thoroughly vacuum the area to be cleaned. For optimum results, use a pile brush if available.

2- Remove spots and stains using the appropriate spotting chemical

3- Optional - If using a pre-spray; prepare the pre-spray chemical according to the mixing instructions on the product label. Using a “pump up” sprayer, spray the chemical on the carpet in 10’ x 10’ areas allowing for 10-15 minutes of dwell time. Do not allow the pre-spray chemical to dry. Use water only or a rinse agent in the solution tank when making cleaning passes.

4- Mix extraction cleaning solution according to product label instructions.

5- Extract the carpeting, moving in straight lines using overlapping passes. Be careful not to over wet the carpet. 6- To shorten drying times – make a second pass using vacuum only to extract as much moisture as possible. 7- Use air movers to speed up drying time

8- When dry, vacuum area thoroughly

SPOTTING 1- Identify the spot or stain and which product to use. 2- Pretest fiber in an inconspicuous place for color fastness.

3- Sparingly apply water and blot.

4- Apply Spotter to the stain and tamp or agitate.

5- Repeat step 4 if necessary

6- When dry, vacuum area thoroughly

CARPET CLEANING PROGRAMStructured By Nature

What will the Certified® Pile Brush do for me? • Improve indoor air quality throughout a facility.• Enhance performance of cleaning chemicals.• Help remove traffic pattern areas.• Restore breathability back into the carpet.• Break up and remove deeply embedded soil in your carpet.• Add life to your commercial or residential carpet.• Groom the nap.

What is missed by regular vacuuming?Certified’s Dirt-O-Meter shows you dry

soil recovered with the Pile Brush. This is embedded soil that is missed with regular vacuuming.

What are the experts saying? The 1998 Building Service Contractors Association InternationalCarpet Guide says “The pile brush type vacuum will remove deeply embed-ded soil, and open up a nap more than a regular, lightweight vacuum. Usually,a pile brush machine will be used weekly on traffic lanes, monthly on all of thecarpeted areas, and always just before any cleaning process. The pile brushvacuum is a dual-purpose machine because it is used both to maintain com-mercial carpet and to clean”.

Shaw Industries, one of the leading manufacturers of carpet, says,“Using a pile lifter in traffic lanes just prior to cleaning will remove the deeplyembedded soil and open up the pile so the hot water extraction can be moreeffective. After using a pile lifter, the final step...will be less difficult.”Additionally, Shaw’s recommendation for in-house maintenancespecifies “Use a pile lifter...in high traffic areas.” Shaw’s description of apile brush might as well be Certified’s pile brush, it is “...an upright two motor vacuum with a large, adjustable, gentle bristle brush with a motor, a high suction vacuum motor, and a sand trap.”

oomWhere and when do I use the Pile Brush?

• Traffic lanes and heavy pivot areas in hallways and in front of reception areas.

• Entrances into buildings.

• Elevator areas.

When?• Always the first step

in restorative cleaning.

• Minimum of once a week. More frequently with heavy foot traffic and wear.

What will the Certified® Pile Brush do for me?• Improve indoor air quality throughout a

facility.

• Enhance performance of cleaning chemicals.

• Help remove traffic pattern areas.

• Restore breathability back into the carpet.

• Break up and remove deeply embedded soil in your carpet.

• Add life to your commercial or residential carpet.

• Groom the nap.

The one essential tool for proper carpet care, the Certified® Model “S” Pile Brush removes the deeply embedded dry particulate matter from the carpet while helping groom the nap, eliminate trafficpatterns and prolong the life of your carpetand rugs.

Why the Certified® Pile Brush Stands out!

• Dual motor system.

• One motor drives a 4.5 inch diameter vegetable

fiber or nylon brush.

• New, quieter motor drives vacuum.

• Improved Filtration.

• Self leveling base.

• Larger bag capacity.

• Sand trap for collecting larger particles, and allowing just fine dry particulate to pass through the vacuum motor into paper bag insert.

• Solid die cast aluminum construction.

*Shaded areas indicate pile brush usage.

Certified® has pioneered and developed the use of the pile

brush longer than any other machine manufacturer. Certified®

introduced the first two-motor horizontal Pile Brush unit ever

manufactured. It is the opinion of thousands of Certified® Pile

Brush users, that no cleaning job is complete or professionally

done unless prepared by pile brushing. Skillfully engineered

and ruggedly built, the Certified® Pile Brush is the industry’s

leader.

The Certified® Pile Brush works on both a sweeping and a vac-

uum action. The 4.5 inch brush gets down to the base of the

carpet fibers to break-up caked, embedded soils and dry par-

ticulate matter, which are swept by the brush into the sand

trap area. Once in the sand trap area, all of the heavy par-

ticles such as pebbles, paper clips, sand, and tacks rest in

the sand trap. The vacuum motor then pulls the smaller,

lighter particles into the vacuum bag. This process keeps

the larger particles from being pulled into the vacuum motor

and causing damage.

STEP

Firmly grip the handle and hold in on thelever under the handle. The pile brushwill gently pull you with the machine. Tooperate most effectively, always start in acorner of the area to be pile brushed fac-ing the lay of the pile.

Facts & Specs

Why Encapsulation?Detergents are a necessary element in carpet cleaning products to help loosen dirt from carpet fibers. Unfortunately, detergents can be sticky and may leave a residue if not completely removed from the carpet fibers. This residue will accumulate with each cleaning and leads to problem resoiling, especially in traffic lanes and other heavily used areas. Certified's Encapsulation polymer technology is a safe alternative to traditional detergent based cleaners. Encapsulation polymers are added to the carpet cleaning solution. These encapsulation polymers suspend the detergent and soil at the top of the carpet fibers, drying into a light, non-sticky crystalline which can be easily removed by normal vacuuming.

• Leaves no harmful residue• No rinsing required (Except Pre-Spray)

• Prevents soil wicking• Eliminates rapid resoiling• Carpets stay cleaner longer
