One of the challenges that upstream and midstream businesses face is aggregating volume and composition data from multiple sources to allow for measurement analyses from wellhead to sales points. Required measurement analyses include checking custody transfer volumes, tracking losses across the system, and running balances across all aspects of the business (property, field, gathering area, etc…).

The challenge in accomplishing the above is that data comes from multiple sources; each with its own data frequency and start times. These data sources include internal gas measurement systems, third party gas measurement volume/composition data, SCADA data, oil/gas/condensate upstream production databases, and third party custody transfer data feeds. Often, a specific volume can have multiple data sources, each with its own time horizon.

Oil & Gas Volume TrackerTM

The eSimulation Oil and Gas Volume Tracker is a web-based (SaaS), or client hosted, application that aggregates volumes from multiple data sources in real-time. Data can be transferred via file-transfer uploads done daily, weekly or monthly. The aggregated data is used for:

• Automatically linking gas volume measurements to gas analysis data based on system/subsystem topogra-phy (property, fields, corporate)

• Comparative measurement analyses of internal meters to custody transfer meters

• System and subsystem balances by volume for oil, gas and condensate streams

• System and subsystem balance by component for condensate and gas streams

• Loss accounting and identification by subsystem

• Charting of historical data (hourly, daily and monthly) by meter for a specified date-range

• Export of volumetric data to Excel or other third-party applications

• Multiple customizable report formats for volume balances and alarm reporting for a specified daterange

• Well/facility details such as lat/long, lease name, property name/id, API Id, etc.

• Meter specifications such as meter type, meter factor, orifice size, temperature and pressure base, etc.

The Oil and Gas Volume Tracker is a PPDM (industry standard database) compliant solution schema. The solution has been deployed to both Upstream and Midstream companies and the clients continue to utilize the software to make business process improvements through better tracking of their volumes and losses.

Production Data Capture and Analysis for the Oil and Gas Value Chain

• Highly flexible Microsoft technologies for storing data (SQL), visualization, and reporting of performance

• Utilizes industry standard PPDM data schema

• Unlimited ability to analyze balances across the system to identify and track losses

• Provides web-based interface to the master database for access from anywhere

• Generates custom reports to look at any aspect of the business

• Provides data dissemination and connectivity to other applications via flexible SQL based interfaces

• Near future development plans - Provide a remote app that will allow for entry of tank and run ticket data at the local site with Tablet or Laptop

eSIMOPTIMIZER™eSimulation began in 2000 by offering its eSimOptimizer rigorous, gas plant optimization solution. The solution bundles innovative, web-based process optimization software with strong chemical engineering services, to maximize asset value under all NGL margin conditions. The solution provides direct operator setpoint guidance every two hours on a web page (SaaS).

eSIMEVALUATOR™eSimEvaluator is used by midstream companies to manage their gross margin positions from wellhead to sales points. eSimEvaluator is used for what-if scenario analyses, operational performance optimization, budgeting, forecasting, variance analyses, commercial planning, and project justification. Its unique margin analyzer identifies changes between periods and quantifies the impact of those changes on gross margin deltas.

OIL AND GAS VOLUME TRACKERThe Oil and Gas Volume Tracker captures data from multiple data sources (SCADA, measurement, 3rd party custody transfer meters, etc..), each with its own time horizon, and stores it into a large-scale data warehouse repository. The data is then available for detailed measurement analyses, balances, and loss identification.

OPERATOR COMPETENCY IMPROVEMENTThe midstream industry is challenged with determining the best way to improve operator competency, and maintain operator competency, for a small number of operators, working in remote locations, and on shifts. eSimulation offers its eSimTrainer solution and Yokogawa offers dynamic training simulators used in refining and petrochemical applications.

MODULAR PROCEDURAL AUTOMATIONModular Procedural Automation combines consulting expertise with world class procedure control capabilities to capture, optimize, and retain, procedural knowledge in a process plant. The solution integrates procedures into the operator interface and alarm system for improved situational awareness. Modular Procedural Automation can be used to automate, or guide operators through, startup and shutdown for gas plants and compression stations. Can also be used to help operators to implement eSimOptimizer optimization targets.

AUTOMATION PLATFORMS AND SERVICESYokogawa offers multiple automation and control strategies, architectures, and solutions for every application size and complexity. Our distributed control systems (DCS) - fully scalable for midstream applications - are renowned for their reliability which translates into increased process uptime.

➞ Advanced Process Control strategies can serve to stabilize cryogenic processes and help the operator to achieve the eSimOptimizer optimization targets.

➞ Yokogawa’s multivariable control solution is ideal for reducing standard deviation in fractionation trains which results in better product splits and increased production.

➞ Yokogawa offers sophisticated SCADA solutions which can be used to manage gathering and supersystem interactions

ANALYTICALYokogawa is recognized as a world leader in the field of analytical equipment. Yokogawa’s chromatograph line is of particular interest for midstream applications.

FIELD INSTRUMENTATIONYokogawa field instrument products includes a complete line of flow meters, pressure transmitters, differential pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, level transmitters, Fieldbus instruments and safety measurement instrumentation.

MAIN AUTOMATION CONTRACTORYokogawa is particularly adept at implementing large control system projects as the Main Automation Contractor (MAC). The MAC approach was developed in the refining and petrochemical industries whereby the automation supplier provides a complete automation solution - control rooms, wiring, field instruments, control systems, PLC’s, analyzers, etc.
