NATIVITY: 5508 FROM THE CREATION OF THE WORLD.

In these days preceding Christmas, we remember how the evil spirits fights with some

"scientists" and makes them to assert on all the channels owned by them too, mass media and theInternet, which literally roar of alternative dating which "prove" and "demonstrate" astronomical, that

the Holy Scripture and the Holy Tradition are deceptive, being dependent, poor them, of the scientific

level of their time, outdated and obsolete by the new discoveries and "evolved" devices. And then,Christian and priestly conscience can not get away, and even to suffer such blasphemy, and as pastors

to see how wolves come in sheep ignorant of science who can not in any way check their "theories"

and "assumptions" , and even laws.

To enhance our fellow priests and faithful flock we shall confess these:Time has occurred at a precise moment, and flows in one single direction!: "He brought into

existence the passage of time too, which always hurry, go ahead and do not stop no way." (St.

Augustine). This problem is particularly present when the current perception of the chronology and the

calendar has suffered, helped by mathematics and evolutionism of the nineteenth century a radical shift.

Secular (civil) chronology of today introduced a system of dating in two directions. We are raised from

childhood with this hybrid, without thinking to contest its validity. If we stop but a moment of reflection on the symmetrical flow of time in two opposite directions, with the Nativity as axis (center),

and dating "before" or "after"... we shall see that the time has a point of origin 0 and flows in two

directions without any determined end!

The traditional chronology says: "the year X from the creation of the world", and time flows, just as actually happens in one single direction, towards the end, which it is true that remains hidden, but will come when the Lord decided (O = Omega).

We do not want by this to deny in any way that the center is Christ, or even the time axis, but

only to reinstate the traditional chronology of the Church which, of course, honored Christ properly.

Trying to figure out how we come there, it primarily relies on the fact that this timing would belong to St. Dionysius Exiguus who established the year nativity and thus the Christian era (A.D.)

Following the generally accepted information, Saint Dionysius developed a Paschal table for

the years 228-247, years counted from the beginning of the reign of Emperor Diocletian. In his

faithfulness, the Saint felt that this wicked persecutor of Christians do not deserve to be remembered,

but instead it have to be remembered the year of Nativity (Anno Domini), and he modified the dating

as being the period 532-550 from Nativity, and so the Diocletian year 228 is therefore equivalent to the

AD 532, the cruel tyrant reign beginning in 284 AD. As these events were happening in Rome, thus

was canceled too their traditional dating "Ab urbe condita" (from the founding of the city of Rome byRomulus and Remus), which would have been 753 before Nativity. We have no objection to this

information except that it does not follow at all that the Saint introduced that count of the years in both

directions. Another hypothesis was provided then that the one who brought this curious timing would be

the successor of St. Dionysius, namely the Venerable Bede (England, 8th century), which would have

introduced the practice of counting years backwards too and so the year of Nativity of the Lord waslogically preceded by a year before the Nativity.

This information should be considered very carefully, because here you can sneak a false trail.From our Orthodox sinaxars1 of course we know about our Old Testament prophets and righteous

words like these: "The Holy Prophet (N) has now lived (n) centuries (or hundreds of years) before the

Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ...", something certainly known by Venerable Bede. But we can be

absolutely sure that he had not forgotten the dating from the creation, even if he not currently used this.From here, however, and up to establish a system of dating in different axes so as we know it is a long

way, that, behold, it took until the 18th century of the "lights", when the current "astronomical" system

timing was proposed and adopted by misfortune and today, by astronomer Jacques Cassini in 1740.It should be noted that throughout history the Church over a millennium there was a timeline

very well put together, what was known and taught in the same manner in which history is taught in our

schools. But this was altogether different timeline than at school, and we give it here for a further edification:

"About the year from the creation of the world, and about the three cycles

Christians, i.e. the whole Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, have admitted in their dogmas that

the Bible was the first law given by God to the people of Israel and renewed - the second time - by the

coming on earth of the Undefeated Redeemer of the human race, our Lord Jesus Christ.

The first law is known as the "Old Testament ", and renewal as to: " New Testament ", - "I came

not to destroy (the law) but to fulfill" says the Lord (Matthew 5:17).The age of the building from the world, among the Jews and others chronographers, many write

this in many ways; but the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church decrees that our Lord Jesus Christ was

born after the flesh, by the Most Holy Lady Our Theotokos and ever Virgin Mary, in the year 5508from the creation of the world. These year digit some people use to divide – i.e. the time from the

foundation of the world until the first coming of our Lord Jesus Christ - in five ages:

They call the first age of the world that one from the creation of Adam until the flood (after the72 translators called the Septuagint -)

A first consequence of the above was the diversion of traditional religious sentiment of the time,

and gradually replace it with a chronology of secular, scientific and political, which differs radicallyand dangerously undermine the foundations of Orthodox faith.

In this area - the first days of creation until the fall of Adam - you can stitch any number of

fanciful conjecture, and any amount of years, which perfectly suits an evolutionary thinking. Thus theage of the universe went from infinity (atheist materialism) until the recent theory of "big bang" that

indicates a length of approx. 16 billion years. For these errors to no longer take place, let us resume

without any doubt in soul the traditional constantinopolitane chronology of the Eastern Church that

tells us to count 5508 years from the creation the world till the Nativity. Since then, as we were told,2010 years passed, giving a total of 7518 years.
