Application InstructionsThank you for your interest in being a Student Leader for the 2016 Great Lakes Native Youth in Food & Agriculture Regional Summit! The committee looks forward to receiving your application. You should submit your entire completed application to Kelsey Ducheneaux on the Indigenous Food & Agriculture Initiative staff using the contact information below. Please note: the Student Leader application is for college-aged leaders only. If you are between the ages of fifteen and eighteen, please complete the Student Application:

Review ProcessThe application deadline for Student Leaders is March 15th, 2016. Materials must be emailed, faxed, or postmarked by 11:59pm CST that day to be considered for the position, unless special circumstances warrant a later application. Summit staff will review each application received by the deadline and will select the most qualified individuals for phone interviews.

1. Résumé that includes evidence of your academic achievement (current G.P.A.); 2. Statement of Interest:

1-2 page typed, double-spaced statement that:

o Explains your interest in being a leader at the Great Lakes Summit;o Discusses your involvement in food and agriculture activities at home, in

your Tribe, your community, at your school, or elsewhere; o Includes any membership and involvement in FFA, 4-H, or other food and

agriculture organization; and o Outlines your future plans relevant to food and agriculture.

3. Two reference contacts: One personal reference being a current or former employer or supervisor, or a

member of your family, Tribe, or community who can speak to your leadership abilities, preferably in a food/ag setting; and

One personal reference being an individual (preferably a food/ag professional) in your family, Tribe, or community who can speak to your dedication to food and agricultural production.
