National model of statistical information production process description using GSBPM
Belgrade 2019
The necessity to modernize statistical production
Problems of official
statistics
(Reducing bureaucracy)
Decrease the burden on respondents
(Economic efficiency of management)
Limited resources
(“avalanche of data”)
Growing amount of information
(Information society)
Growing need for information
(The private sector understands the value of data)
Competition
GSBPM (1)
• The Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM) wasdeveloped in 2008. (the current version is 5.1 from 01.01.2019year)
• Developer: expert group on Statistical Metadata at theConference of European Statisticians
• Application: currently the model is used in more than 50countries
GSBPM (2)
The main purpose of the model – a flexible tool to describe and define the system of business processes required to produce official statistics
on a consistent basis.
A framework for assessing and improving the quality of statistical processes
Improved integration of statistical metadata and quality work
Harmonization of statistical information and computing architecture
Comparison and control processes within and between organizations
Facilitating the exchange of statistical programs between statistical offices
