In one of the rare gestures of unification of different streams of Homoeopathic thought, the Homoeopathic Prasar Mandal, Satara organized a National Homoeopathic Seminar on the occasion of Hahnemann Day on 22nd April 2018 and brought the ICR and Predictive Homoeopathy on a single platform. The impetus was to counter the oft-repeated criticism of the action and role of Homoeopathy in certain media outlets. It was necessary to project scientific evidence based Homoeopathy to gain the confidence of the students-practitioners and Dr. Manoj Patel sir and Dr. Praful Borkar sir were the ideal representatives of the respective organizations to do that. Homoeopathic Colleges were involved through their Principals who were to be felicitated for their contribution to the development of Homoeopathy. Dr. Ravi Bhosale sir played a central role in this effort. An unprecedented 550 pre-registrations for the Seminar were obtained with 70 spot ones. Our Chief guest was respected Dr. Arun Bhasme sir, Vice president of CCH and Shri. Arun Gavalisir, founder of Samarth educational trust was the President who gave motivational speeched along with our Patron, Dr. Ravi Bhosale sir. A documentary showcasing the

contribution of the valuable work of Homoeopathic Prasar Mandal and "पथदर्शिका होर्िओपॅथीची" by Dr. Jawaharlal Shah and published by the Mandal were released.

Dr. Manoj Patel Sir’s session on Role of Homoeopathy in Mental Health was based essentially on the pioneering work of Hahnemann and we were fortunate to have the leading Psychiatrist of Satara, Dr. Animesh Chavan, attend throughout the 3 hour session. Outlining Hahnemannian view of classification of disease as mental diseases and correlating with current views via Psychological theories like Freud's Theory of Subconscious, he moved on to showing the cases of IPD and OPD from Palghar Hospital. 4 cases were presented with different psychiatric diagnosis of Alcoholic withdrawal, Acute Psychosis, Substance abuse and conversion disorder. Video presentations allowed the group to see the state before and after Homoeopathic treatment and how to erect the totality. He mentioned how many years of efforts it took to develop the confidence and show the results to patient. He also outlined the help of a psychiatrist in handing cases and when and how to manage the case together. The importance of not interfering or stopping any psychiatric drugs on one’s own and the need to work in conjunction with the psychiatrist was underlined. Even Psychiatrist was happy to accept the concept. The following were the important learnings from his presentation:

Role of case taking of crucial importance in psychiatric cases.

Observations are far superior than talking with the patient where the PG residents of Palghar PG College were accurate and helpful

Attendant has massive role.

Homoeopathy can treat in lesser time and in a judicious way when the aphorisms 210-230 were understood and practiced e.g.

Recalling the effort of Hahnemann himself, the struggle to find the truth made him observe Klockenbring, a manic depressive patient for 15 consecutive days before prescribing!! This speaks of the dedication of Hahnemann. If the potency get changed after shaking why we should not shake ourselves to evolve was the nerve racking question Manoj sir put to us!! Dr. Animesh Chavan sir gave nice inputs about the various mental illnesses particularly conversion disorder emphasizing the contrast between illness and the healthy state. Manoj Sir told about current activities in the rural Bhopoli setup & how the Community Health Workers trained by the MLD Trust were helping to carry Homoeopathy into the interiors where no doctor can reach. The Question-Answer session extended beyond 30-45 min. as no one was interested in partaking lunch! Delegates emerged with positive vibes. Post lunch saw Prafull Borkar Sir delivering on the subject of Role of Homoeopathy

in Pathological Cases. He asked to stand to listen and perceive the Prayer - हिको िन की शक्ती देना.. िन विजय करे

Borkar Sir started the session with the basics of Homoeopathy. He explained how the Homoeopathic practitioner can do work of greater value than an Allopath. He discussed 3-4 cases with gross pathology amongst which were a case of gangrene of fingers of hand which was on total recovery and a Paraplegic in which patient started to walk within 3 Months. He emphasized on the problems which are faced in daily practice & how to solve them. He also stressed upon miasms which are most important. Those are known through the clinical diagnosis. He also added to revise the materia Medica images. You should understand the tri miasmatic materia Medica of any remedy. Dr. Kent has given in preface of Kent’s Repertory that Homoeopathy doesn't treat the disease but it gives the stimulus to the organism which releases the entire process of healing. He advised to read the Master’s 6th edition of Organon again & again as it is only through constant effort that its doors open and then they will never close. The important learning points were:

Keep it always simple.

Erect the totality on the basis of your understanding alone.

Understand the journey of the disease with correlation to life history. Body doesn't speak lie.

Importance of single dose & watch for recovery. Don't disturb it. Finally he concluded the session with showing the actual photographs of Dr. Hahnemann's birth place, his death bed, his Consulting room and various artifacts associated with the Master. Indeed a fitting close to the Master’s Birthday Celebrations.
